Yesterday I watched In The Heights and I LOVED it! While the majority of the movie is in English, it is about the Latinx population in the US and we also hear a lot of Spanish. Combine this with watching Elite (and the short stories) last week and it reminded me of all the Spanish shows I wanted to see. I say Spanish shows, but I mean Spanish speaking shows, so they could also be Mexican for example. Let’s jump in!
¿Quién Mató a Sara?
Hell-bent on exacting revenge and proving he was framed for his sister’s murder, Álex sets out to unearth much more than the crime’s real culprit.
El Desorden Que Dejas
Based on the novel of the same name winner of the Primavera award 2016. Raquel, a young literature teacher, gives her marriage a second chance and moves to her husband’s birth town, which hides a dark secret she will try to unravel.
Las Chicas del Cable
Set in the 1920s, this is the story of four women from different backgrounds newly hired as operators for a phone company.
El Dragon; El Regreso de un Guerrero
After the murder of his parents when he was a little kid, Mexican Miguel Garza is sent away to Japan. 20 years later, he has to go back to his home country as the new heir of his family’s cartel.
Coral, Wendy, and Gina go on the run in search of freedom while being chased by Romeo, their pimp from Las Novias Club, and his henchmen, Moises and Christian.
Two sisters discover disturbing family secrets after a string of mysterious deaths occur on a luxury ship traveling from Spain to Brazil in the 1940s.
I also started watching Gran Hotel but it was removed from Netflix! This makes me so sad. I also realised that all of these shows are on Netflix. Do we not have any on Prime or Disney+? Please let me know if I missed any on there! Also, they are all either Spanish or Mexican, there must be ones set in different countries right? Hit me with your recommendations down below!
