Down the TBR Hole #52

I’m keeping my promise and doing this post every other week. The past couple of weeks have been good and I haven’t added much to my Goodreads TBR. It also helps that I’ve started reading a couple books on that list as well.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 821 (my last post ended at 820, so these couple of weeks have been good…)

All These Monsters – Amy Tintera

All These Monsters sounds like a book I’ll enjoy, but I don’t know when I’ll get around to it. Seeing how I also don’t own it, haha. So I’ll take this off for now.

Remove

Infinity Son – Adam Silvera

I’ve loved Adam Silvera’s contemporary books, so I’ve been curious about the switch to fantasy. There have been some mixed reviews, but I want to form my own opinion. I have a signed paperback, so there’s no reason not to.

Keep

Dark and Deepest Red – Anna-Marie McLemore

There’s always at least one book in these posts that I don’t really remember. Dark and Deepest Red is one, haha. Reading the synopsis again has me really curious. The cover is stunning as well, so I’m going to give this one a chance!

Keep

The Blackbird Girls – Anne Blankman

I’ve been wanting to read more historical ficiton and this is a middle grade one. I know about Chernobyl, but haven’t really read anything about it. The Blackbird Girls will be an emotional read, but an important one I think.

Keep

Diamond City – Francesca Flores

Diamond City sounds like it’s going to be a fast-paced read with a really interesting world. I haven’t read many books with main characters being assassins, so I’m up for that.

Keep

Dead Voices – Katherine Arden

My decision for Dead Voices isn’t hard at all! I’ll actually be reading it next month, haha. Small Spaces is one of my favorite middle grade books and I’m so excited to read the next in this series.

Keep

The Notorious Virtues – Alwyn Hamilton

I’m not really sure if this book is going to be published. I believe The Notorious Virtues was supposed to release last year I believe and then this year. Goodreads says 2025 now, so we’ll have to wait and see. Our main character must fight in a magical battle for a place on the throne. Sounds really interesting!

Keep

The Love Hypothesis – Laura Steven

Laura Steven is definitely an author I love! I’ve read two of her books and they were amazing. The Love Hypothesis is sitting on my shelf waiting to be read. I’m hoping I love this one as much as The Exact Opposite of Okay.

Keep

Starbreaker – Amanda Bouchet

Starbreaker is a book I should’ve already read, haha. Like so many others! I really enjoyed the first book, Nightchaser, and I can’t wait to see how this adventure continues.

Keep

The Weight of a Soul – Elizabeth Tammi

Another book on this list that I honestly don’t remember. It still sounds interesting, but I’m not really interested in picking it up at this time. So I’ll be removing it from my list.

Remove

Removal Percentage: 20%
Current “to-read” shelf: 819

So those were the last ten books on my Goodreads TBR shelf. I didn’t remove many, but it was an interesting list of books. Have you read any of these? What did you think of my choices? Should I change any? Let me know in the comments!
