Down the TBR Hole #51

My Goodreads want to read shelf is increasing again, so I’m sticking to doing this post every other week, haha.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 825 (my last post ended at 813, so we’re heading the wrong way again, haha…)

Becoming the Dark Prince – Kerri Maniscalco

I really enjoyed the first three books in this series. Becoming the Dark Prince is a novella in this series about Thomas. I like Thomas as a character and it will be interesting to get some scenes from his POV. It’s only 64 pages, so shouldn’t take that long.

Keep

What I Like About You – Marisa Kanter

I own What I Like About You and really need to read it soon. This book has an online friendship and a character that blogs. Both things that I love. To be honest I don’t know why I haven’t read it yet, because it sounds like something I’ll love.

Keep

Defy the Night – Brigid Kemmerer

I’ve now read a contemporary and fantasy book by this author and really enjoy her writing. Defy the Night is her next series releasing later this year and sounds like another amazing fantasy adventure. I know I’ll be picking it up.

Keep

Nameless Queen – Rebecca McLaughlin

This is a book I actually forgot about. Reading some of my friend’s reviews on Goodreads makes me think this may be interesting, but won’t be a favorite of mine. With so many books to read I’ll be taking this one off of my list.

Remove

The Book of Lost Things – John Connolly

The Book of Lost Things does sound like an amazing book, but it’s not one I own yet. So I’m not taking it off my list because it sounds bad, but because I just don’t know if or when I’ll get it and sit down to read it.

Remove

Darling – K. Ancrum

Darling is another release coming later this year. K. Ancrum is an author that I’ve only read one book by, but loved the writing style. Darling is a Peter Pan retelling and sounds so good. And look at this amazing cover!

Keep

The Garden – Amy Sparling

I’ve read other books in this series and really enjoyed them, but it’s just another case of so many book and just not enough time. I love contemporary books, but just don’t own The Garden yet.

Remove

The Inheritance Games – Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Okay, I have to start off by saying how amazing this book is! I had the chance to read an early copy of The Inheritance Games and couldn’t put it down. The sequel is one of my most anticipated releases this year and I highly recommend this book.

Remove

Seven Deadly Shadows – Courtney Alameda

Seven Deadly Shadows has a really interesting concept. The main character see the ghosts and demons haunting the streets of Japan. I have to say this has some really mixed reviews on Goodreads, so I’m not really sure if it’s going to be for me. Seeing how I don’t own it, I’ll remove it for now.

Remove

Hunting November – Adriana Mather

Killing November was such a pleasant surprise. It was nothing I was expecting, but so good!! Hunting November is the sequel and I picked it up when it released, but just haven’t had the chance to read it yet. I really sound like a broken record, haha.

Removal Percentage: 50%
Current “to-read” shelf: 820

That was this week’s Down the TBR Hole. I managed to get rid of half of the books on my list this week. Have you read any of these books? What did you think of them? Should I have chosen differently? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I totally forgot about that Thomas novella!! I just finished the series in January, so I need to get my hands on that novella soon. I did read “What I Like About You” and I recommend it – it was cute. I was hooked on how the story would pan out. And I have “Darling” on my TBR too, can’t wait for it!

  2. This is a really fun thing to do! I should do that to my TBR 😂 I tend to put books on it that I was in the mood for and then I come back 2 weeks later and I realise I would never read this 😕 Smart idea!
