Tag | Mid Year Freak Out Tag 2020

Like we already mentioned in our most anticipated releases of July, 2020 is flying by. Half of the year is just about over, so I thought I’d do the Mid Year Freak Out Tag. Last Year Isabelle did this one and we both did it the year before. Even though a lot is going on in the world this year, I have had an amazing reading year so far. As I’m typing this I’ve read 136 books out of the 200 I have set for my Goodreads goal. So let’s talk about some of those books in this tag!

Best Book You’ve Read So Far

Having already read 136 books, it’s impossible to pick just one book. Some of my favorites have been Warrior Blue, House of Earth and Blood, Spin the Dawn and Date Me, Bryson Keller. There a lot of other books, but these have all been amazing!!

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far

For me there are two sequels that really stand out this year and one author has worked on both. Dev1at3 and Aurora Burning both blew my mind!! And I have to tell you that these authors are evil!!

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To

Once again, there are so many I could talk about here! Chain of Gold, What I Like About You, Undercover Bromance and Hunting November are a few I really need to get to ASAP!

Most Anticipated Release For The Second Half Of The Year

There are a lot of books coming to us the last six months of the year. A few I’m really excited about are Cinderella is Dead, The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue, In a Holidaze and The Once and Future Witches. The second half of 2020 is filled with amazing new books, but these are a few that pop to mind!

Biggest Disappointment

I’ve been lucky so far with how many books I’ve read and haven’t enjoyed. I think that’s pretty good after reading 136 books. One of my disappointments was All the Stars and Teeth. I enjoyed the world and loved how everything was put together, but the execution and characters didn’t really work for me.

Biggest Surprise

My biggest surprise this year is definitely the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire, especially the first book Every Heart a Doorway. All of the books are under 200 pages, but they’re amazing. I’m still in awe of how this author put so much story in such a small amount of pages. All of these books are so unique and I’m so excited for the next book releasing early next year!

Favorite New Author (Debut Or New To You)

Lev Rosen has definitely become an author I’ll keep an eye on. His newest release Camp was amazing and really took me by surprise. I’m so happy I requested this book and I really hope to read Jack of Hearts (and Other Parts) later this year. Camp is really a perfect summer read, so I would highly recommend this one!

Newest Fictional Crush

When I read The Dark Elements Trilogy a few years ago, Roth was definitely the fictional crush that stood out in that story. Zayne was interesting, but not the hero. After reading Storm and Fury and Rage and Ruin, he’s definitely coming out on top and is worthy of being on the book boyfriend list!

Newest Favorite Character

This is a hard one, there are so many and I’m so bad at thinking of these things when I’m put on the spot. For now I’ll have to say Finn in Aurora Burning! He’s so much fun and I hope to get to read more about him!

Book That Made You Cry

I cry a lot while reading, haha. My Life as a Pop Album is a book that had me in tears. LJ Evans is such an amazing author and hit me in all the feels. This series really deserves so much more attention than it gets! I still have two more books to go, but I’m taking my time with them. I’ll be sad when I’ve read them all.

Favorite Book To Film Adaptation You’ve Seen This Year

My choice isn’t exactly a book to film adaptation, but it’s close. Love, Victor is a series that’s a spin off of Simon vs. the Homosapiens Agenda. The first season is ten episodes and went by way too fast. I need more of this show!!

Favorite Review You’ve Written This Year

I always have a hard time choosing my favorite reviews. For me they can be really hard to write! One of my most recent reviews Spin the Dawn is one I loved writing and a book I mentioned earlier, My Life is a Pop Album. I added so many quotes to that one, haha.

Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought Or Received This Year

Book covers keep getting prettier. Especially when you get books from subscription boxes. One of my favorites is my copy of Dangerous Remedy. The cover is stunning and I love the sprayed edges. I’m a fan of pretty books!

What Book(s) Do You Need To Read By The End Of This Year

There are so many books I want and need to read before the end of this year. I have three lists that are filled with books I really hope to read. You can find my list in the posts about The Book Tempter’s TBR Book Challenge, Books on My Spring TBR and Books on My Summer TBR! I’ve read a few on my Spring TBR already, but I’m determined to read more!

Wow, I forgot how long this tag actually was, haha. It’s fun to do and I still have a lot to read. How has your reading year been so far? What have been some of your favorite books. I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

    1. Thank you so much <3 I can’t wait to see your answers if you decide to do this tag!

  2. Love Victor was so adorable and healthy. People actually calling out bullshit, supporting eachother and talking about their feelings. And characters who tried their best to take good decissions oh how I miss it already!
