Down the TBR Hole #25

Seeing how I keep adding new books to my Goodreads TBR, I decided to did this just a little more often than I have before. It’s been almost two months since my last Down the TBR Hole and I’ve added 38 books to my want-to-read shelf, so I really need to do a post like this again.

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 542 (my last post ended at 504, something seemed to have went wrong here…)

Fallen Heir – Erin Watt

The Royals series is an interesting one and I was suprised to see that I still have only read the first two books. I definitely want to continue with this, but Fallen Heir is the fourth book. Until I read the third one, I’ll remove Fallen Heir. There’s not really a point to have this one on there if I haven’t read the previous book yet.

Remove

Wing Jones – Katherine Webber

If I’m honest, I totally forgot about this book. It released three years ago and I still don’t own it. For now I think I’ll take it off my want to read shelf. If it’s been that long and I actually forgot about it, I don’t really want to read it right away. Maybe I’ll eventually get back to this one.

Remove

Batman: Nightwalker – Marie Lu

Batman: Nightwalker is actually a book on my shelf that I got in a bookbox. The hardcover is really gorgeous and I will read this one. Wonder Woman was so much fun, so I’m looking forward to this one. Once again a case of so many books, so little time!

Keep

Catwoman: Soulstealer – Sarah J Maas

Out of all of the books on my list this week, I’m most surprised that I haven’t read this one yet. So far I’ve loved Sarah J. Maas’ writing! Even though these are standalones, I guess I want to read them in order? Batman will have to be read first!

Keep

Superman: Dawnbreaker – Matt de la Pena

If I take a look at all of the books in this collection, I’ve heard the least about this one. That may be because of the controversy surrounding this author, or for other reasons, but no one I know has read this one. Also, the reviews on Goodreads are definitely mixed. I think for that reason, I’ll be removing this one from my TBR.

Remove

A Tragic Kind of Wonderful – Eric Lindstrom

Another book I’ve completely forgotten, but I still love this cover. This is a hard one. The story sounds amazing and I love seeing mental health being represented in books, but I see so many mixed reviews. I don’t own this one yet, but I’ll keep it for now. I’m still curious!

Keep

Air Awakens – Elise Kova

I have to say once again that I love the covers for this series. Elise Kova is an author I’ve read before and I really enjoy her writing. I own this one and the sequel, so I really need to get to them soon!

Keep

The Language of Thorns – Leigh Bardugo

Grishaverse is a world I’ve really come to love, including Six of Crows. For some reason I haven’t gotten around to buying The Language of Thorns, but I’ve seen how beautiful this book looks. I know I’ll eventually get it and read these tales.

Keep

Muse of Nightmares – Laini Taylor

Just like I said earlier on with Fallen Heir, I haven’t read the first book in this duology. I know I’ll eventually read it, but that also means it doesn’t have to stay on this shelf. It’s not one I’ll forget about, so for now I’ll remove Muse of Nightmares.

Remove

The Roanoke Girls – Amy Engel

I actually added this one to my want to read shelf before I started reading thrillers. It even sounded interesting to me back then. The cover is really appealing and I’m curious about these twisted family secrets. The Roanoke Girls needs to be added to a wishlist soon, so I can read it.

Keep

Removal Percentage: 40%
Current “to-read” shelf: 538

Even though I only removed four books, it’s progress, haha. I have a feeling my shelf will only get bigger before the next post, but I’ll keep on trying! Any opinions about my choices this week? Should I have kept or removed ones I didn’t? What book should I pick up soon to get off this list? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Love this post idea! I’m honestly one of those people who is so bad at keeping my shelves on goodreads organized. I’ll definitely have to try this one out.

    1. Definitely, it’s the perfect post idea to clear out your TBR.

  2. This is one of my favorite weekly posts! Language of Thorns is so good! I borrowed it from the library about a year ago and got my own copy last month!
