award-winning author, LJ Evans, comes a story of family and sacrifice inspired
by Lewis Capaldi’s “Bruises.” You won’t want to miss this inspirational,
“She’d hit me like a meteor falling from the sky.”
After getting a glimpse of Mac and Georgie, I knew their story was going to be amazing and I’m happy to say I was right. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Ava and Eli, but I think I love these two just a little more! Forged by Sacrifice hit me in all the feels. I laughed, cried, swooned, got angry and read the last page with a smile on my face. Even though I was slightly sad this story was over.
Georgie hasn’t had the most typical life you can have, but that hasn’t held her back. Even though she ended up putting her dreams on hold for awhile, she’s ready to get what she wants. Family and love are complicated for her and she never has really seen herself settling down. Things can definitely change.
“But all I know is that when I kissed you, I felt forever. Forever in one kiss.”
I loved Georgie. After everything she’s been through she’s turned out really strong. She’s feisty, strong and knows how to take care of herself. I think showing that even though the odds are against her in many ways, is an amazing thing. Life is what you make of it at times and she’s definitely proof of that. I can also relate with her “geeky” side. I loved school and learning and couldn’t help giggle when she was off to a start before classes even began. I think what I loved the most about her is that she slowly started letting her walls down and being vunerable. Georgie could never depend on much and letting someone in and depending on them to be there if she falls, was a really big step.
Mac is a character I knew would be on the book boyfriend list before I even read this book. He comes from a political family and has had an idea of what he wants for a long time. Finally leaving the military, he’s going to give his dream a go. Politics is something he always saw himself ending in and this is a start. Mac is generous, funny, strong and could end up with any woman he wants, haha.
“You look like the stars came down and kissed you with their sparkle.”
After reading a few chapters about Mac I was sold. He put a smile on my face many times and will be a character I won’t forget. I think Mac’s story was really important. He had his mind set on a dream he’d had since he was younger, but just starts to realize what it really means. Mac’s story shows us that dreams don’t always meet up to your expectation and sometimes you’re destined to do something else. Life can be hard, but you can find something you love. My favorite part about Mac is how protective he is. Not only of Georgie, but his family. They’ll always be number one and he’ll do absolutely anything for them!
I think it’s safe to say that this is a slow burn romance. I love the connection these characters have and it feels so real. They both feel an attraction, but know they could never be, so don’t give it a try. Fate has other ideas, because they cross paths again in a way neither expected. Georgie and Mac face quite a few obstacles and their worlds could tear them apart. But will they let that happen? It’s definitely a roller coaster ride!
“I wouldn’t recover if she left me now or later. If I lost the one thing in this damn world that could still give me hope.”
What I love the most about LJ’s books are the playlists. This makes me feel the stories just a little bit more and her songs always match the vibe of the story! I would really recommend listening to the playlist while reading this amazing story! Also, on top of all these factors, the cast of the side characters is amazing. Not only do we get a glimpse of where Eli and Ava are, but we meet other as well. My favorite has to be Dani though. She’s so interesting and I’m excited to see her get her own story!
I honestly could keep on going and talk about all the amazing things in this book, but then I would have my own story! I can only say definitely pick up this book! You won’t regret it!!

things, and her first published heroine was pretty much involved with dirt on a
daily basis. Which is exactly what LJ loves about fiction novels—the characters
can be everything you’re not and still make their way into your heart.
If I could give this book more than five stars, I would! Forged by Sacrifice isn’t a short book and it still wasn’t enough. LJ Evans isn’t only just an amazing author, but also an amazing person! I couldn’t recommend her books enough. Let me know in the comments if you’ve read anything by LJ Evans!
