Review Blast| The Lying Hours – Sara Ney

The fifth book in the How to Date a Douchebag series, The Lying Hours, is now available! Even though this is the fifth book, each can be read as a standalone. This was my first book in this series and the author and I really enjoyed it. Keep on reading for my full review. Also, a big thanks to the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for an ARC to read and review!

ABRAHAM
DAVIS—Honest Abe to his friends—IS IN OVER HIS HEAD…
He’s a fixer
and a do good-er. The all-knowing, resident “grandfather” on the
wrestling team who everyone relies on to fix their problems. His teammates go
to him for everything; advice, homework, or when they need a sober driver at
three in the morning–whether he likes it or not.
Abe’s
current mission is easy: mend his roommates broken heart by helping him find a
girlfriend on the LoveU app–without getting caught in the lie…
SKYLAR
GABRIEL. IS. OVER. IT.
Over her bad
grades. Over her meddling older brother and his two best friends. And over
dating douchebags. What she wants to know is: where have all the nice guys
gone?
She longs
for a handsome, sweet, and honest guy who can make her laugh. In one last ditch
effort to prove that he exists—Skylar turns to LoveU.
On her worst
day, Skylar has no filter (it’s a miracle she hasn’t been ditched mid-date).
On her best,
she’s as wholesome, and sweet, as pie.
On Thursday?
She matches with Abraham Davis’s roommate.
Skylar
Gabriel is falling for the wrong guy—she just doesn’t realize it yet.
Why?
BECAUSE ABE
DAVIS IS A LIAR.

Sara Ney has taken the romantic comedy to a next level with romantic comedies! This was my first book by this author, but I really need more now. A few friends of mine are big fans and I understand why! This book made me laugh, swoon and be very thankful I’m not single in this day and age, haha.

Abe isn’t our typical jock. He’s serious about school and very smart. He loves wrestling, but it’s starting to get old. Abe loves the ladies like most of his teammates, but he’s looking for something more serious than just a night of fun.

Skylar likes being social, but doesn’t feel the need to go out and party all the time. She’s just as happy with a book or bingewatching a TV show at home with her best friend. She’s a feisty one, but a lot of fun. Skylar is also looking for a more serious relationship, but most guys she meets only have one thing on their mind. When her friends convince her to join the dating app, it definitely goes differently than planned.

Besides the lines at the beginning of every chapter, reading their conversations on the app was so much fun. I’m a big fan of books with e-mails or messaging and this book had a good balance in the beginning. I knew from the start that Abe pretending to be his roommate was going to turn ugly, especially after he chats with Skylar. It was so much fun to watch play out though. Even though events like this aren’t original, this author gives it her own spin.

I love the connection that Skylar and Abe have as soon as they start chatting (even though Skylar doesn’t know it’s him). These characters were so much fun. Skylar is relatable in many ways and Abe has made my book boyfriend list. He’s the type of guy us women need more of! The drama once the truth came out wasn’t too much and all I wanted was them to live happily ever after. I couldn’t put this book down and read it almost completely in one sitting!

The Lying Hours is a great romcom that makes you laugh, swoon, smile and restores hope in the modern dating world (except JB and some of the other guys Skylar first talks to). Abe and Skylar are definitely characters that will stay with me for awhile.

Sara Ney is
the USA Today Bestselling Author of the How to Date a Douchebag series, and is
best known for her sexy, laugh-out-loud New Adult romances. Among her favorite
vices, she includes: iced latte’s, historical architecture and well-placed
sarcasm. She lives colorfully, collects vintage books, art, loves flea markets,
and fancies herself British.
This is my first introduction to this series, but it won’t be my last! All I know, is I need to get my hands on the other books soon!

  1. I have the first one in my Amazon cart and I had no idea it was a series! I’ve been on the fence and keep telling myself once my TBR pile gets a little better…. 😉
