It’s already the end of March, which means it’s time to take a look at all the books coming our way in April. The first three months of this year were filled with a lot of amazing books! Will next month be the same? Let’s take a look at our anticipated April releases.
Defy Me – Tahereh Mafi (April 2nd)
Last year the Shatter Me adventure continued and I think Tahereh back better than ever. The original series wasn’t my favorite to be honest but I did love Warner and Kenji and Restore Me was amazing. Also, those cliffhangers were insane and I need to know what happens next!
Wicked Saints – Emily A. Duncan (April 2nd)
We both have an eARC for Wicked Saints and Isabelle already finished it. You can expect our review really soon and I can already tell you it will be very positive! The synopsis is so cool and the story really lives up to the hype.
The Devouring Gray – Christine Lynn Herman (April 2nd)
I preordered this! And I’m so excited to read it. It has been said that this is kinda Riverdale x Stranger Things and what more can you want in a book?
The Red Scrolls of Magic – Wesley Chu & Cassandra Clare (April 2nd)
By now you all probably know we are big fans of Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunters world. And a Malec book can not go by unnoticed. I’m super excited for this story but the cover is awful so this might be an ebook option haha.
The Princess and the Fangirl – Ashley Poston (April 2nd)
We both adored Geekerella so naturally we’re super excited for this companion novel. The synopsis sounds so cute and geeky. And the early reviews sound amazing, this is for sure going to be a highly rated read for us.
We Rule the Night – Claire Eliza Bartlett (April 2nd)
Look at that cover!! This book got me at illegal magic, so what more is there to say? I also saw Shadow & Bone in the description and that means it’s probably something I will like!
Since We Last Spoke – Brenda Rufener (April 2nd)
Star-crossed lovers can either be really good or annoying, but I think this will be a good one. After tragedy strikes things get complicated and it sounds like this will be another contemporary that’s hard to read, but so worth it.
Defy the Fates – Claudia Gray (April 2nd)
This is the third and final book in the trilogy, but I haven’t even read book one yet. Oops! I love these covers though and am using this post as a reminder for myself that this one is available.
We Were Beautiful – Heather Hepler (April 2nd)
I have an ARC of this book and will be a part of the blog tour. It sounds so interesting. I love the more intense contemporary stories and this one sounds like it will be a difficult read, but a beautiful one!
The Boy Who Steals Houses – C.G. Drew (April 4th)
I haven’t read Cait’s previous book yet, although I do own it. But I love to support her, she is an amazing human being and I enjoy her writing. This is will for sure be an amazing read.
Descendant of the Crane – Joan He (April 9th)
This author will be coming to the TBR and Beyond Book Club group soon and this book sounds pretty amazing. Another beautiful cover as well. A few friends have gotten their hands on an ARC and have loved it!
How to Make Friends with the Dark – Kathleen Glasgow (April 9th)
I am really close to my mom, so I can’t imagine what this character goes through. I really want to read this though. I have a feeling this will be a heartbreaking book, but one that will be really interesting!
Love and Other Curses – Michael Thomas Ford (April 9th)
How gorgeous is that cover? And I love the synopsis, it reminds me a little of the Raven Boys. The curse sounds super interesting and I’m excited for the relationships. I did hear some negatives surrounding one of the relationships so I would like to check that out for myself.
Dreaming Darkly – Caitlin Kittredge (April 9th)
A girl that used to be on the run with her mom before living with her uncle after her mom’s death. Familysecrets, nightmares, a gothic romance, sounds wonderful to me. I hope this is at least a little bit creepy!
Every Moment After – Joseph Moldover (April 9th)
Two friends survived a school shooting eleven years ago and are still dealing with the consequences. This is such an interesting and heartbreaking concept and I really want to read it. I’m sure it will be very emotional but I think it also has the potential to be extremely important.
This Book is Not Yet Rated – Peter Bognanni (April 9th)
It’s nice to see a movie theater being a place filled with memories and a safe spot for this main character. I love seeing diferent settings in books like this and I think this one sounds perfect.
When Summer Ends – Jessica Pennington (April 9th)
I love Love Songs & Other Lies and actually have an ARC of this I plan on reading really soon! As a contemporary fan, Jessica is definitely an author I would recommend. I know I am going to love this one as well!
Serious Moonlight – Jenn Bennett (April 16th)
I loved Alex, Approximately so I knew I needed to give this one a go. A little romance mixed with some mystery. Sounds like the perfect combination to me!
Nyxia Uprising – Scott Reintgen (April 16th)
Isabelle actually gave me the first book of this one, haha. I still need to read it, but once again another reminder for me. I love these covers though, very interesting.
Last Girl Lied To – Laurie Elizabeth Flynn (April 16th)
I am part of the blog tour for this one and I can’t wait to read it! This is a YA mystery thriller and I really enjoyed the synopsis. Can’t wait to figure out this mystery.
The Raven’s Tale – Cat Winters (April 16th)
The cover is what interested me in this book. Edgar Allen Poe isn’t an author I know a lot about, so I don’t know if this will be a book for me. It sounds very unique though!
Starworld – Audrey Coulthurst & Paula Garner (April 16th)
I actually got an ARC of this on Netgalley, so I will be reviewing in April. I love when books add text messages or e-mails. This is a way a lot of communication occurs these days, so it’s very relevant. This story sounds like one that will really touch your heart.
Aru Shah and the Song of Death – Roshani Chokshi (April 16th)
We both loved the first book in this series, so are both really excited to read more of Aru’s adventures! Middle grade books always have such intersting covers as well!
The Tiger at Midnight – Swati Teerdhala (April 23rd)
Another amazing cover! In many ways this story sounds like ones that I’ve read before, but for some reason I’m really interested. I can’t wait to see what unique twists it takes with the revenge on what the main character lost.
You Must Not Miss – Katrina Leno (April 23rd)
Okay, I’m not a fan of this cover, but the story sounds amazing. High school is cruel and it’s pretty sad there are so many kids who need a way to escape reality. I love the idea of her creating her own world in a notebook. Can’t wait to see how that play out!
All We Could Have Been – T.E. Carter (April 23rd)
There are a lot of emotional contemporary books releasing this month! I love that PTSD is going to be a big part of a YA book. It’s definitely a hard subject, but one I think we need to see more of in books. Unfortunately, way too many teens have to deal with it.
Brief Chronicle of Another Stupid Heartbreak – Adi Alsaid (April 30th)
I love the idea of a character following a relationship in a contemporary like this. After high school everyone has to learn how to deal with how their life is changing. I’ve seen this author’s name before, so I think it’s time to try a book!
King of Fools – Amanda Foody (April 30th)
I was pleasantly surprised by Ace of Shades last year. The book ended with some interesting reveals and that has made King of Fools a very highly anticipated release for this year.
The First True Thing – Claire Needell (April 30th)
Addiction isn’t something that gets a lot of focus in YA books. Of course, there are parents who are addicts, etc. Only the main character having the addiction isn’t something I’ve read a lot. I am curious how this one will play out.
Hot Dog Girl – Jennifer Dugan (April 30th)
A contemporary that takes place in an amusement park sounds like one that I need to read. I’ve always wondered what the people who where those costumes go through. Sounds like the perfect summer read!
Little Darlings – Melanie Golding (April 30th)
I’m currently reading an eARC for this one. It’s an adult thriller and the synopsis sounds very creepy. I’m not sure if it’s going to be a supernatural thriller or if the main character ends up imagining things and I’m super excited to find out what’s going on.
Exorsisters Vol. 1 – Ian Boothby (April 30th)
This is about two sisters who work as supernatural detectives and solve demon related problems. Its said to be for fans of Veronica Mars and Supernatural and I LOVE both those shows. I am beyond excited for this one!
Those are all the releases we are looking forward to and once again there are a lot of them, haha. What releases are you looking forward to? Did we miss any?
So.Many.Books. I really want to read Exorsisters, The Boy Who Steals Houses, Every Moment After, and The Raven’s Tale (I LOVE Edgar Allan Poe).
