This week the pilot of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists aired and I obviously had to watch it! I used to watch the original Pretty Little Liars every week faithfully and was torn about it being concluded. It was great to finally have everything solved (apart from allll the plotholes) but I also missed watching these characters and intrigues. So I was super excited when I heard about PLL: The Perfectionists. After watching the pilot, I wanted to talk to you all about it, so let’s get into it!
A group of three college friends struggle with the stress of being overachievers in a seemingly perfect town, but in the aftermath of the town’s first murder, each Perfectionist hides behind a secret.
Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists follows two of our original Liars, Allison and Mona. They both work at a college now and that’s where we meet our new Liars. Four students are clearly swept up in their secrets and their lies. Someone gets murdered and that ensures more mystery, secrets and most importantly: more lies.
I really enjoyed watching this first episode. It was great being back in this world and I liked seeing Allison and Mona again. Mona was one of my favorite characters in the original series and I’m so happy we got her back. There are a couple of big twists in this episodes and I did guess most of the important ones upfront. But one definitely caught me of guard! And I think that was part of why I enjoyed the episode so much. Can’t wait for next week!
If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, I would highly recommend doing so! Below the trailer I will go into the episode. I’m trying to avoid spoilers but if you want to stay completely clueless about what happens you might want to skip this!
We start the episode with Allison arriving at her new work place and meeting up with Mona. She didn’t know Mona worked there so we already got our first little mystery going on. I really appreciated the little references to the original series and explanations as to how they roughly got from the series finale to this pilot.
After years of watching the original Liars navigate high school I’m happy we’re now at college. The original series did the time jump which was a great decision in my opinion. And I think most fans have grown up a little and will be happy to be watching college kids instead of high schoolers this time around. I know I am!
In this first episode we quickly meet the new liars and I think they did a pretty good job of getting to know them. We meet Ava, Caitlin, Dylan and Nolan and they all have things going on. I’m especially interested in Ava’s storyline! A first episode is hard to get us to care about all of them but I think the start is there.
Like I said, I really enjoyed this pilot and being back in this world. There are already a couple of mysteries going on and I can’t wait to see them unravel. After all the plotholes in Pretty Little Liars I’m going to assume Marlene has learned from her mistakes and hopefully she plotted out these mysteries all the way. I definitely will be continue watching this show!
Have you seen the pilot? What did you think? And are you an OG PLL fan or are you new to this world? Let me know in the comments!
We plan on starting this soon!
I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did! Candyce just told me she was hooked right away as well 😀
