Bookish Item | 19 Before 2019, Did I Read Them?

Last year I made post about the 19 books I wanted to finish before 2019. We were 19 weeks away from 2019 so reading 19 books was definitely a possibility, and I for sure read more than 19 books from that point onwards. But the big question is, did I read those books I set out to read in those last weeks of the year? Let’s look back on those books and I will tell you if I read them!

1.Kingdom of Ash – Sarah J. Maas
read

This was my most anticipated release of last year and I started reading it as soon as I received it. I took my time with it because I didn’t want it to end but I did read it! And I also absolutely loved it <3

2.Two Dark Reigns – Kendare Blake
read

This was another highly anticipated release of 2018, possibly my second highest. I believe I read this quite soon after the release as well. This is one of my favorite YA fantasy series and I can’t wait for the conclusion.

3.Wildcard – Marie Lu
unread

Unfortunately I haven’t picked this one up yet. I do plan on reading it soon as I’m scared I will forget all the details from the first book. And that was a book I really enjoyed! So much more than I was expecting actually. So I need to pick up Wildcard soon.

4. The Caged Queen – Kristen Ciccarelli
unread

I’m sad to say I haven’t read this one either. Candyce and I met Kristen about a year and a half ago and she was so sweet and kind. I read hate first book and really enjoyed it so I hope to pick this one up soon.

5. Vengeful – V.E. Schwab
unread

I did start reading this sequel to Vicious. After a little while I put it down because I received Two Dark Reigns and soon after Kingdom of Ash (I think at least haha) but after finishing those books I still didn’t pick it up.

6. Fables vol. 2 – Bill Willingham
read

I actually read this one last month! So I guess I have to decided wether it counts as I didn’t read it before 2019. The storyline for this second volume was super interesting and I truly hope to continue this series soon.

7. Children of Blood and Bone – Tomi Adeyemi
read

It took me awhile but as soon as I started this one back up as an audiobook I started to go through it a lot faster. This books deserves all the praise it’s getting and I think we all need the second book asap!

8. To Kill a Kingdom – Alexandra Christo
read

I don’t read that many mermaid books and I was pretty intrigued by the synopsis of this one. And it did not disappoint! Alexandra has a new book coming out this year and I will definitely be picking that one up too.

9. A Reaper at the Gates – Sabaa Tahir
unread

I did get a copy of this one for Christmas but I haven’t picked it up yet. This one takes quite the commitment and deserves my full attention. Hopefully soon!

10. The Defiant – Lesley Livingston
read

This is another one I read only recently. So I did read it but just not in 2019. It is a wonderful book and I’m so excited to pick up the sequel.

11. Hunting Prince Dracula – Kerri Maniscalco
read

Stalking Jack the Ripper was a bit of a disappointment for me. But since book 3 sounded super cool, I decided to stick with the series a little longer. And luckily for me I enjoyed this second book more than the first!

12. Legendary – Stephanie Garber
unread

Caraval was another disappointment. But everyone keeps telling me this one is better and I do love the naked hardbacks. This also made it to my TTT of this week actually!

13. Night Film – Marisha Pessl
read

While I did read this one, I kinda wish I didn’t haha. This was one of my least favorite books I read last year.

14. Daughter of the Siren Queen – Tricia Levenseller
unread

The first book was very enjoyable and I read it super quick. I already owned this second book but I have still to pick it up. This might be pretty soon as it’s also a great opportunity to finish another series haha.

15. A Closed and Common Orbit – Becky Chambers
unread

I have to admit I hardly thought of this book! And when looking back at the original post I wasn’t expecting this to be on there. But I did really enjoy the first book so I might enjoy this one as well!

16. Nevermoor – Jessica Townsend
unread

Another one on my last TTT. I plan on reading this in May and I’ll hopefully read the sequel right after!

17. Reign of the Fallen – Sarah Glenn Marsh
unread

I did start this one but put it down in favor of a couple of other books and unfortunately I haven’t picked it back up since. The book started super interesting so I will be picking it back up at some point!

18. Wonder Woman: Warbringer – Leigh Bardugo
read

I adore Leigh Bardugo and I love Wonder Woman. So I was fully expecting to love this one so so much. Unfortunately it ended up being quite disappointing for me. I did read it and I’m happy about that but I was simply expecting more.

19. The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas
unread

The last of these that made it on to my TTT this week. I totally blame my expectations for not picking this one up yet. This is supposed to be an amazing read and I hope I will have the same experience.

End Result:
Start 2019: 7/19 – 37%
Now: 9/19 – 47%

Well, this was an epic FAIL! Although I did read some of them, most of them are still unread on my shelves. I need to look back at these kinds of lists more often, I might’ve had picked up another one on this list. Do you make these kind of lists for yourself? And do you stick to them? Let me know in the comments!

    1. I do really plan on reading it again! What I read so far I did enjoy 😀

    1. Thank you <3 I really liked Vicious as well and heard amazing things about Vengeful, I’m sure we’ll love it!

  1. I started reading Vengeful too, but it got pushed aside for more exciting books haha. I loved Vicious and was super excited for Vengeful but just couldn’t get into it 😂

    1. It’s so weird how that happens! The first couple of chapters were amazing and I’m sure I will love Vengeful! But I just haven’t picked it back up (its also HUGE haha)
