Wrap Up – February

Yesterday we showed you all our bookhauls from February. And today it’s time for our wrap ups! What did we read this month? Are we still on track for our reading challenges? And most importantly, did we enjoy the books we read? Let’s take a look at our February Wrap Up!

Candyce

February was another amazing reading month for me. I actually keep shocking myself with how much I get done, haha. During the month I posted about working with a TBR for the first time and I actually felt it did help. I managed to get just about all of them done, only have four that I didn’t finish. And one of them, I am over halfway! This month I read 20 books and 8 novellas (between 100-200 pages a piece)! I am a little behind on reviews, so a lot of these will be posted in March!

Triplicity – J. Mercer

This was definitely an interesting read. A group of teenagers on a cruise ship and some mystery. It was a fast and fun read, but I felt like there could’ve been more ‘mystery’. That part was left a bit in the background.

My Life as a Country Album – L.J. Evans

I LOVED this book! It’s such an emotional story, but a very beautiful love story. Every chapter is a song title and is told base on that song. A love story from start to finish, just to start over again. L.J. Evans is an amazing author and these books deserve so much more attention!

Times Like These – Julia Wolf

Julia Wolf wrote the Sublime series that I loved, but this time she’s back with a rock star romanced. Times Like These was different from other rock star romances, but I loved it. These characters aren’t your typical rock stars, but it was interesting to read about them and the tour they were on! I can’t wait for the second book!

Until I Found You – Brooke O’Brien

A friend of ours is a big fan of this author and her books sounded really interesting, so I knew I had to read this one! A great romance with amazing characters and a bit of excitement. I can’t wait to read the next one releasing this month!

Bacon Pie – Candace Robinson & Gerardo Delgadillo

I’ve seen Bacon Pie before, but I hadn’t gotten around to reading it. The authors were looking for reviewers in a group I’m in and I was really curious. Bacon Pie was a really cute contemporary and I’m really glad I gave it a chance.

Motion – Penny Reid

I love Penny Reid’s books and this is the first book in her newest trilogy. Pretending to be your twin while you’re complete opposites. Try being all cool when you’re actually pretty nerdy. Add a guy you’re attracted to and it becomes really interesting. This was a really fast and fun read!

Text Me Baby One More Time – Teagan Hunter

This book is the last book in Teagan’s texting series and that’s a shame. I loved these books (I still need to read the third one). After reading these, I love finding other books that have some texting or e-mails. They’re so much fun to see in a book.

Geekerella – Ashley Poston

I read Geekerella when it first came out, but I decided to do a reread. It was just as good as I remembere it and I can’t wait for The Princess and the Fangirl.

Dear Adam – Kelsie Stelting

Dear Adam was another amazing book by Kelsie Stelting! It’s my favorite so far! I loved that this one really had a lesson. We really can’t judge people by what we think we see. Someone who may seem to have a perfect life, could have a lot going on that we don’t realize!

Book of Fire – Michelle Kenney

The concept of Book of Fire was really interesting. When the Earth was about to be destroyed, a life dome was created. Except people survived and things on the outside aren’t as bad as everyone thinks. It was a really interesting read, my only complaint is that things seemed to go just a bit too easy. I am looking forward to reading the second book.

A Lover’s Landing Novella Project

Eight authors got together and all wrote novels that centered around Lover’s Landing. A diner who has magical coffee. Couples that meet there, live a happily ever after. If you’re looking for fast reads that leave a smile on your face, definitely pick these up!

HWY 550 – Freya Barker

Hwy 550 is the third book in this series and I really think these books just get better and better! There is a lot of suspense and I can’t figure out who did it until the very end. The romance is a great thing in here as well and you come to love the couples!

Stolen Moments – Emily Bowie

I loved the idea of the stolen moments in this love story. It really was a kind of a forbidden romance and I liked the characters. It didn’t have enough focus on the romance though and events in the book could’ve been described a bit more. It stayed a bit shallow. I do want the next book though to se how the story continues for another member of this family.

The Son & His Hope – Pepper Winters

Wow, this book really surprised me in such a good way! The Son & His Hope is beautifully written and you feel for the characters. I kind of wished the author ended the book a bit sooner though, because some of the events near the end felt a bit farfetched!

The Last Letter – Rebecca Yarros

This book broke me! I have never cried as much as I did while reading this. The Last Letter is anything but your typical romance, but it’s such a beautiful story. I know some people aren’t happy with events that take place, but while I cried because of them, life isn’t perfect. Not everything ends happily ever after.

The Defiant – Lesley Levingston

A year after it was released, I finally read the sequel to The Valiant! And once again, I asked myself why I didn’t pick this up sooner!! I really enjoyed being back with these characters and I know in the next couple of months, the third and last book will be on my TBR!

Hold on Tight – Serena Bell

I normally hate books that have a man not know he’s a father, but that didn’t bother me in this one. It was brought in such a sensitive and loving way! This was such a beautiful love story as well. I can’t wait to dive into the second book this month!

Zero F*cks – S.M. Shade

Zero F*cks is the newest installment in the Violent Circle series and it was so good to be back there. I love these books and all the crazy characters we read about. I really hope a few of these characters get their own story!

The Girl King – Mimi Yu

Ever since I read about this book being released, I was really curious. The worldbuilding is great and there are some twists and turns I didn’t expect. I only wish we learned more about the magic in this world and how it works. Hopefully the second book will give us more information about these elements.

Kasey – Jennifer Hanks

Kasey is a novella in The Dimarco series and it was great being back and reading about this family. Every time I think I have a new favorite brother and then the author gives us another story and I’m back to not knowing who is my favorite!

I also read a book a good friend of mine wrote this month, Crown of Conspiracy by Kara S. Weaver. She’s currently working on edits and hoping to publish this year! It’s so good though!! I really hope this book gets attention, because it’s going to deserve a lot of it! She’s currently also publising on Wattpad. Click here to take a look!

Isabelle

I read 16 books this month, the same amount as last month! This is definitely more than I was expecting and I’m so happy about it. I hope I can continue to read as much as I did these first two months of the year but we’ll see.

Deadly Class vol. 2&3 – Rick Remender & Wes Craig

I’ve been talking about Deadly Class a lot recently haha. But these graphic novels definitely deserve the attention! I really like the art and the storyline. Hopefully I can continue reading this series soon but in the mean time I will focus on the tv show!

Fence vol. 1&2 – C.S. Pacat

I was expecting to like this but was a little bit scared of the hype. But I didn’t need to worry because this story is amazing! I really liked the sports aspect and the characters are super interesting. As soon as I finished volume 1, I ordered the second volume. Unfortunately, it arrived damaged so I had to sent it back, but obviously I did need to read it first ;). Hopefully my new edition will be better. Can’t wait for volume 3!

Saga vol. 4 – Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples

I finally continued Saga! And the next volume is waiting in my online cart until I order it haha. These graphic novels are so amazing and I totally get why everyone is obsessed with this series.

Fables vol. 2: Animal Farm – Bill Willingham

I loved the first volume but somehow put off picking this one up for the longest time. Luckily I finally did pick it up this month and I really enjoyed it. It was a good story and I really like the art in these graphic novels.

Heartstopper vol. 1 – Alice Oseman

I read this for Valentine’s Day and oh my, it was the perfect book for that occasion! This was such a heartfelt story and that ending!! I need the second volume right now. These characters are amazing and I flew through the whole thing in no time at all.

Paradise Kiss vol. 1 – Ai Yazawa

Unfortunately this one was really disappointing. I first started reading it quite a while ago and finally decided to pick it back up. The story just wasn’t me and I couldn’t seem to care about any of the characters. I don’t think I will get the next volumes for this one.

The Psychology of Time Travel – Kate Mascarenhas

I picked this book up because of the title and I was not disappointed! To be honest, I wasn’t completely sure what to expect, but I know it wasn’t this! However, I ended up really enjoying this book. I love books about time travel and I think this one was quite unique.

King of Scars – Leigh Bardugo

I love this word, I love this characters and I love Leigh Bardugo. Luckily I loved this book as well! I simply can’t wait until we get the next book in this duology <3

The Kiss Quotient – Helen Hoang

I don’t read books like this but after hearing nothing but good about this one I decided to listen to the audiobook. And I was hooked! I listened to the whole thing in no time at all and can’t wait for Helen’s next books.

A Series of Unfortunate Events 10&11 – Lemony Snicket

To be honest, at this point I’m mostly reading these books so I can get to the end and so I can watch the Netflix show. I liked the Slippery Slope a little better than the previous ones but The Grim Grotto wasn’t my favorite at all. Hopefully I’ll like the last two better and will the end be worth the journey.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo – Taylor Jenkins Reid

I did NOT expect to like this one as much as I did. Everyone loved this one last year but I didn’t think it was for me. And boy was I wrong! What a fantastic book this was. I’m definitely picking up the new Taylor Jenkins Reid book soon!

The Deceivers – Kristen Simmons

This was just what I was hoping it would be! I really enjoyed reading, or rather listening to this one. Con artists are a favorite trope of mine and I want to read ALL the con artists books haha. The ending had me super excited for the next one in the series!

In An Absent Dream – Seanan McGuire

I was really looking forward to this one! Lundy definitely grew on me and I loved reading about her world. I do have to see that this was the first one in the series where I felt like the book just wasn’t big enough to explore everything. Especially the ending went so fast! But once again I’m super excited to read the next one.
