Show Sunday | Deadly Class

A couple of week ago the first episode of Deadly Class was released and I had been looking forward to it for quite a while! After watching the first episode I decided I wanted to talk about it to you all and possibly bring it on to your radar. This tv show is based on the graphic novels by Rick Remender and Wes Craig. Let’s get into it!

Like I said, I’ve only seen the first episode so far. When the show started, I had only read the first volume of the Deadly Class graphic novel series and was afraid to spoil myself. So after watching (and loving) the first episode, I immediately ordered volume 2 & 3. I read volume 2 this week and will be reading volume 3 soon! And after I’ve read that I will be continue watching the show.

The trailer for the tv show looked really cool and got me super excited. I think they did a great job with the casting and the characters match their GN-counterparts very well.  For those of you that don’t know what this series is about, this is the IMDb synopsis:

A coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of late 1980s counterculture, which follows a disillusioned teen recruited into a storied high school for assassins.

So basically we follow this guy Marcus as he gets recruited into this school that trains assassins. It’s the late 80s and you can tell from the references. It’s pretty dark and the GN can get quite graphic!

Like I said, I watched the first episode. And I was quite impressed! The first episode covers about one third or half of the first volume from what I can remember. And I think they did a great job! They stuck to the storyline quite well but expanded a bit where it was necessary. From what I can tell it looks like the first 5 episodes will cover the first volume of the GN.

The feel of the graphic novel was translated onto the small screen really well in my opinion. Just talking about the show gets me super excited to dive back in and I will probably do so next week! The third volume is at the top of my TBR as I can’t wait any longer! Have you seen Deadly Class yet? Or did you read the graphic novels? Let me know in the comments!
