Bookish Item | Books About Con Artists

I just finished The Deceivers yesterday and that book inspired me to do this post! It is about a bunch of teenagers who go to a school for con artists basically and I just adore stories with con artists. So for today I wanted to show some of the books with con artists I really liked and some I would love to read soon. Let’s get into it!

Six of Crows – Leigh Bardugo

This list would not be complete without this wonderful fantasy book. For those of you who don’t know it, it’s the first book in a duology set in the Grishaverse. We follow this amazing gang of teens and they have to pull off an incredibly dangerous heist. There is also a lot of ‘conartisting’ going on and this duology is one of my favorite things ever.

Trust Me I’m Lying – Mary Elizabeth Summer

Candyce and I buddy read this and it was quite enjoyable. We start the story off with a little con and that element was my favorite in the book. I didn’t like this as much as the other books on this list but you might still enjoy it a lot.

Artemis Fowl – Eoin Colfer

Yes, I also couldn’t make this list without the MG wonder that is Artemis Fowl. I have only recently read the first two books in this series and I honestly wish I did that a lot sooner. Definitely recommend this series, a series I need to continue reading asap.

The Dazzling Heights – Katharine McGee

This is the second book in a series, the first book did not have a con artist. But the second one most definitely did. And I loved reading about that story line! These books are Gossip Girl addictive and I need to get the conclusion to this series soon.

How to Lead a Life of Crime – Kirsten Miller

This is probably my favorite contemporary book with con artists. It features a school like Vale Hall in The Deceivers. I had this book on my wishlist for the longest time and I was so happy when I finally got it and read it. This book was pretty brutal but I loved it a lot.

So these were some of the con artists books I really enjoyed. And I guess that means it’s time for some books I hope to enjoy in the future.

The Lies of Locke Lamora – Scott Lynch

I already own this book and would love to read it asap. The synopsis sounds so cool and I have been wanting to read it for years now. Since it has a con artist, it can only be a book I will highly enjoy!

White Cat – Holly Black

This one has been on my want-to-read list for quite some time! Mobsters and con artists all around in this family! Our main character doesn’t want to become a criminal and I’m curious to see how that goes.

Pretending to be Erica – Michelle Painchaud

As soon as I heard about this book it went straight onto my wishlist and I’m kinda ashamed I still don’t have it. I love everything about the synopsis and would love to see this con play out. It’s also great that we get a female con artist as there aren’t nearly enough of those!

Final Empire – Brandon Sanderson

Another one on my physical TBR! Candyce and I plan on reading the Mistborn series this summer (finally haha). I honestly didn’t know too much about this series but apparently it deals with a heist and we all know how I love those.

Thieving Weasels – Billy Taylor

This one sounds like a lot of fun! The main character got away from the con family four years ago but is pulled right back in. I think this one might be right up my alley.

Heist Society – Ally Carter

I loved Ally’s Gallagher Girls books about those adorable spies and would love to read this companion series. Instead of with spies, this one deals with con artists and the synopsis gets me super excited. I think this is a pretty simple series like Gallagher Girls but that doesn’t make it less enjoyable!

These are just a couple of books I would love to get to. Did you read any of these? I would love to hear your thoughts on them!
