Tag | The Book Cake Tag

It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for another tag. Today I am going to do The Book Cake Tag. I wasn’t tagged, but found this on Mel to the Any’s blog. According to her post, this tag was originally created by Jen @ Jen Campbell. Let’s see what this tag is all about!

Self-raising flour: a book that started slow then picked up

This is in no way an insult to this book, because it was a favorite of mine last year. The Black Witch does start off slower and slowly pick up. I feel that for this book that was great decision, because the author creates a world you can see while reading. This slow start really only made me want more!

Butter: a book with a really rich, intense plot

Lifel1k3 is the first book that comes to mind at the moment. This book kept me at the edge of my seat. We get such an original story with so many twists that I didn’t see coming at all! I’m happy I didn’t read this book until last month, because now I don’t have to wait as long until the second book is available. Lifel1k3 definitely has a different take on robots!

Eggs: a book you had reservations about but actually really enjoyed

Ace of Shades was a book that I wasn’t sure about. I had heard quite a few mixed reviews, but I was really curious. I ended up really enjoying this story. There were a few elements I would’ve liked to have read more about, but I’m now very excited for the second book!

Sugar: a sweet book

Courtside Crush is a really sweet book. It’s a modern day retelling of Romeo and Juliet and involves basketball. I loved the characters and this author’s twist on Romeo and Juliet. If you’re curious about this book, it releases next week. I really recommend it. Keep an eye on the blog, because my review will be posted on release day!

Icing: a book that included all the things you enjoy in a book

A lot of books have everything that I enjoy in a book, but at the moment I’m thinking of Geekerella. This includes everything I love a retelling, amazing characters, love for a fandom, fandom references and just a great storyline. I am so happy I decided to do a reread of this book. It’s just what I needed.

Sprinkles: a book or series that you return to for a pick-me-up when you’re feeling down

This is a no brainer! Harry Potter will always be the series I return to when I need a pick-me-up. I am really determined to do a reread this Fall, because I love the feeling I get while in that amazing world! I will never get sick of those books!

Cherry on top: your favourite book of the year

It’s only the beginning of 2018, so I don’t have a definite favorite yet. That being said, I have already read a book that is going to be hard to beat. I will be very shocked if I don’t include this in my favorites at the end of the year! The Life We Wanted was such an amazing story that I didn’t want to put it down. It had the perfect balance of romance, emotions, humor, development and perfect storyline. I won’t be forgetting this book anytime soon!

Now that I did this tag I want cake, haha. Maybe I will go bake some now. I’m never good at deciding who to tag, so if you want to give it a go, tag yourself! If you do this tag, please tag us! We love to see other blogger’s answers!

  1. This is a fun one! Geekerella looks perfect for my kids. And I overdosed on HP when my kids were reading it and audiobooking it CONSTANTLY for two years…but yes, I can see going back to enjoy it if I’m in a funk. Thanks for the reminder!
