TTT #65 | Upcoming Releases I’m On the Fence About

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since last January Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Upcoming Releases I’m On the Fence About. And honestly, that’s a pretty difficult one! There are tons of books being released that I’m super excited about. And even more that I have zero interest in reading, but ones I’m on the fence about? I really have to think about those! Lets see which ten books I came up with!

1.Four Dead Queens – Astrid Scholte
February 26th

This might be a coming theme in this post but I love the title and had to know what that was about. Unfortunately the synopsis wasn’t exactly what I was expecting it to be haha. The reviews so far have been pretty good but haven’t completely convinced me yet.

2.The First True Thing – Claire Needell
April 30th

The title for this one is pretty cool and what drew me to it in the first place. I also like the mystery aspect in the synopsis. But to be honest, the rest of the synopsis doesn’t sound like my kind of read and the reviews aren’t hyping me up either.

3.The Last 8 – Laura Pohl
March 1st

I find it pretty difficult to say why I’m exactly on the fence for this one. The synopsis sounds okay I guess, but also seems a little generic dystopian with aliens? I do like the diverse rep this supposedly has and it’s own voices. The reviews are pretty mixed but none are really negative. I’ll just wait a little longer before I’ll decide!

4.You Owe Me a Murder – Eileen Cook
March 5th

I love the title for this book! That’s definitely what captured my attention at first. The synopsis also sounds really cool and like I would highly enjoy it. However I did read a Eileen Cook book before and I was quite disappointed by the ending and I haven’t picked up anything by this author since. I do want to give this a shot but I’ll try and see if I can get it from my audiobook service or library first!

5.If You’re Out There – Katy Loutzenhiser
March 5th

Until the very last part of the synopsis I was so sure this book wasn’t for me at all. But throw in a little mystery and I’m intrigued. From the synopsis I do get the impression there will be quite some focus on the romance and that’s not what I want to read in a book like the. Also the early reviews make it sound like its more of a lighthearted novel than a dark one. And I love me some dark YA mysteries. I think I’ll wait for some friends of mine to read it first haha.

6.The Waking Forest – Alyssa Wees
March 12th

I like the synopsis for this book and would probably be interested in it if it wasn’t for the reviews of some of my Goodreads friends I trust a lot. They both 3 starred it and from what I can tell from their reviews I’m not completely sure this is the book for me.

7.Beware the Night – Jessika Fleck
March 12th

This cover is stunning!! The synopsis sounds okay enough but doesn’t grab my attention right away. It seems like it will be a little heavy on the romance and I’ve seen some reviews saying this book was very predictable. But it also has a great rating on Goodreads and you’ve seen that cover right?

8.Girls With Sharp Sticks – Suzanne Young
March 19th

The concept of this one reminds me of a couple of other books and I’m not sure if I can read another one of these. I also haven’t read anything by Suzanne Young so I don’t know if I like her writing style. The last part of the synopsis does get me a little interested and the reviews I’ve seen so far are very positive.

9.Sal and Gabi Break the Universe – Carlos Hernandez
March 5th

While the synopsis sounds enjoyable and I really like the diverse aspect of this book, it also sounds like more of the same. I enjoyed Rick Riordan’s books and I like his imprint but some of these books just aren’t bringing enough new things to the table. There are a couple upcoming releases that sounds absolutely awesome and this one isn’t one of them. At the same time, I do enjoy this type of book and love to read about different cultures.

I’m going to leave it at 9 and not stretch this list! Have you read any of these upcoming releases yet? Or are you planning on getting them? Let me know in the comments! I would love to discuss these with you all!

    1. Yes these are definitely some lesser known new releases I think. I’m pretty excited for most of the super hyped ones haha

    1. I like reading early reviews but it also makes it HARD! Haha. I never know what to do when it’s kinda in the middle.

  1. The LAst 8 sounds interesting, and I’m getting more and more interested in Girls With Sharp Sticks as well.

    1. That’s good to hear! They definitely have interesting premises
