The first month of the year is over already! It has gone by so fast. We had planned on not getting so many new books this year. The big question of course is whether we managed to keep our money in our purses and our online baskets empty…. Let’s take a look at our January bookhaul!
Candyce
I added a total of 7 books to my collection this month! To be fair though, 5 out of the 7 came from holiday money and a gift certificate I still had. So I’m quite proud of myself, haha. Let’s take a look at the books I added!
A Curious Beginning – Deanna Raybourn
A friend of mine is so enthusiastic about these books, that I just had to get the first one to see what she’s talking about. I want to read more historical fiction this year, so this would be a perfect book for this goal. If I love it, I will have to add the rest of the books on my wishlist.
Song of the Dead – Sarah Glenn Marsh
This is the sequel to Reign of the Fallen. I really enjoyed this story, so I’m excited to finally have the second book on my shelves. I know this one will definitely be read soon, because Sarah is visiting TBR & Beyond Book Club in a couple of months!
Daughter of the Pirate King – Tricia Leveseller
I know Isabelle really enjoyed this book as well a few other friends! I think Daughter of the Pirate King is going to be another case of why didn’t I read this sooner? Hopefully I can cross this off my TBR soon!
The Serpent King – Jeff Zetner
Last year, I received Goodbye Days by this author. I really want to read it, but then I heard that if you read The Serpent King first you will notice something in Goodbye Days. So I needed to add this one to my collection before starting Goodbye Days. I have a feeling this author will become a new favorite of mine.
Click’d – Tamara Ireland Stone
This year, I also want to read more middle grade books. I thought Click’d would be a good one to have for my collection. A friend of ours, Adinda, read this book and really enjoyed it. I love how this book is designed. I will be sure to add extra pictures to my review after I read it.
Keeper of the Lost Cities – Shannon Messenger
This is a series that already has multiple books released. A few friends recently started this series and really loved it. After reading what it’s about, I really wanted to give it a try. I saw that as the series continues, the books get bigger and bigger, haha. There will be enough to read if I enjoy this one!
Blood Laws – Lexi C. Foss
Blood Laws is a book I wasn’t planning on buying or that I even heard of before this month. Melissa, a friend of ours, is a big fan. She will be meeting the author at the beginning of March and asked if I wanted to join. If I’m going to meet an author, it is nice to read something by them before then. Blood Laws sounds like something I’m really going to enjoy!
Isabelle
I’ve gotten 4 new books this month! Not too bad right? I did order a couple more haha, but they haven’t arrived yet. All of the new books I got are sequels so that fits with my goals for this year. Two of the books are ‘regular’ novels, a graphic novel and a manga.
Magisterium 4&5 – Holly Black & Cassandra Clare
I own the first three books in this series in Dutch and I love those editions. Since I hadn’t read the third one yet I wasn’t planning on getting the other for awhile. But the fifth one was super hard to get so when I saw it at a bookshop I frequent I figured it would be smartest to just get them before they would go out of print. And I used some giftcards so does this even count? Haha.
Saga vol. 4 – Brian K. Vaughan
I keep telling myself it’s okay to buy graphic novels because I read them so fast, but I do currently have quite a couple of unread ones haha. Hopefully February is the month to read all of them 😉 I really enjoyed Saga#1-#3 so I’m excited to continue. The writers are taking a little break from Saga so that perfect for me to catch up!
Gangsta 4 – Kohske
I really enjoyed the first three Gangsta manga and I’m super excited to continue reading this series. It’s not like anything I’ve read before and I like the diversity in the story a lot. I’ve seemed to collect quite the handful of unread manga and like with my graphic novels I hope to read most of them in the coming month(s).
These were the books we added to our collection this month! Did you read any of these? And what did you add to your collection this month? Let us know in the comments!
I have a Curious Beginning on my shelves for quite a while now. It was more of a cover buy for me, lol. But someday… someday, I’ll get around to read it haha!
I cannot believe you haven’t read Daughter of the Pirate King and its sequel yet, Candyce! Just OMG!!!!!!
And I am so excited to see what you’ll think of Lexi’s books and I look forward to March 3rd a lot <3!!!
And wow, Isa, you managed to hold yourself back with hauling haha, nice! The books/maga’s you hauled, look really interesting!
I was so proud of myself! All though I did place a preorder last week so this proud feeling won’t last haha
I totally know what you mean about graphic novels…mine keep on growing all on their own!
