TTT #59 | Books I Hope I Find Under The Christmas Tree This Morning

We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since last January Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s prompt is Books I Hope I Find Under the Christmas Tree This Morning. Aaaah there are so many books on my wishlists. And I have at least 4 different wishlists haha. The books mentioned today are on wishlists for my family, for Candyce, and for my Secret Santa Swap. While writing this, I don’t have a clue on which books I’ll receive yet πŸ™‚

1. A Reaper at the Gates – Sabaa Tahir

I have read the first two books in this series in Dutch so I decided to keep on reading them in Dutch. That did mean I had to wait quite some months longer for the release of the third book. But luckily it released just in time for Christmas! I got the other two books for Christmas as well, so that feels a bit symbolic now. The Dutch publisher decided to create a cover that fits with the first two, but also is in line with Sabaa’s wish for POC characters on the cover. I really like the way they went with this and I really hope I find this one below the Christmas tree.

2. The Poppy War – R.F. Kuang

I have nothing but amazing things about this book! It has been on the top of my wishlist for a while now and I truly hope I’ve gotten a copy for Christmas. I adore this cover, the simplicity and the colors speak to me and are something that peaked my interest for this book right away. This story is supposed to be quite brutal and political and that’s just the way I like my fantasies.

3. Locke & Key #3 – Joe Hill & Gabriel Rodriguez

I loved the first two volumes of this creepy graphic novel! But these are pretty expensive ones so I try to keep myself in check and won’t let myself buy them without ‘good reason’. I have to admit those reasons don’t have to be that good haha. A Christmas present is the perfect reason and I really hope to find this one in my stack.

4. Deadly Class #2 – Rick Remender & Wes Craig

I really enjoyed the first volume of this interesting graphic novel. We follow Marcus, a kid who get’s recruited into the Kings Dominion for the Deadly Arts school. This secret, elite school trains the next generation of assassins. Sounds pretty cool right? And there is going to be a TV Show very soon, so I want to read some more volumes, so I can watch the first season without getting spoiled.

5. Phobos #3 – Victor Dixen

Almost two years ago, Candyce and I met Victor Dixen and I read the first book in his Phobos series prior to that meeting. I didn’t have high expectations going into the books but was pleasantly surprised. Last year I got the second volume for my birthday and thought it would be great to get the third book for Christmas. I thought this was the last book in this series, but it turns out there is a fourth book as well. These are pretty quick reads and I’m excited to get back to this series.

6. Throne of Glass Special Edition – Sarah J. Maas

Look at that pretty cover! Do I even need to explain why I want this one? Haha. I’m ashamed to admit I don’t own a physical copy of Throne of Glass and would love to change that fact with this pretty one. These special editions looks wonderful but are pretty expensive. I love to get things like this for Christmas, usually I don’t want to spend this kind of money for myself.

7. The Night Circus – Erin Morgenstern

This one has been on so many wishlists already! Somehow no one wants to gift me this book haha. I have heard so many wonderful things about the Night Circus and I would love to finally read it. If I won’t get it this Christmas, I might need to just buy it for myself haha. I don’t think I even really know what this one is about, but the few things I did hear sound like something I would love to read.

8. Wolf by Wolf – Ryan Graudin

Another one that has been on quite some wishlists! This werewolf retelling of the Second World War sounds so so interesting and I have been wanting to read it FOREVER. I do own another Ryan Graudin book, Invictus, and probably need to go ahead and just read that one soon. Recently I have come across some very negative reviews for Invictus but I still really want to read it. Hopefully I’ll like her work better!

9. Fence vol. 1 – C.S. Pacat & Johanna the Mad

I love reading graphic novels, and I love sports. But somehow I haven’t yet read a sports related graphic novel! I didn’t even know those existed haha. Fence has been pretty popular with some booktubers lately and I think I will love this one as well. If I don’t get it for Christmas, I’m probably getting it for myself. This is one I simply need to add to my collection.

10. The Winner’s Curse – Marie Rutkoski

And this last one is another one that has been on my wishlists for a while. There are quite some mixed reviews for this series but I think I will enjoy these books. This fantasy series has some political elements and there seems to be little focus on romance. Sounds like the fantasy series for me! And I would love to know if it was worth the hype haha.

So these are the book I hope to find under the Christmas tree! Have you read any of these books? And what books are you hoping to find under the Christmas tree? Let me know in the comments!
