Tag | Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag

I was planning to do another tag today but I came across this tag at the TBR and Beyond blog. It looked like a lot of fun and I saw that Melanie tagged Candyce to do this one anyways, so I decided to snag it haha. So today we’re doing the Bookish Naughty or Nice tag and we’ll see if I’m on Santa’s naughty or nice list. And to be honest, I’m scared this is going to complete wrong direction haha! Here we go!

1. Received and ARC and not reviewed it

Welllll, we’re not off to a good start haha. I have about 20 books on my Netgalley account, waiting for me to finally read them. Whenever I scroll through Netgalley, I get excited and think I will for sure read those books. And then I don’t. I’m trying to devote these last two weeks of the year to reading as many eARCs as possible. Hopefully I’ll be better about this next year.

2. Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley

After the last answer, I think you can guess this one already right? I have a 24% feedback rating and I’m so ashamed! Recently I did write 3 reviews and I truly plan on doing better with reading and reviewing my Netgalley books. There was a reason a requested them so I should read and review them! I’m so sorry Santa, please don’t be mad.

3. Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review to come on your blog (and than never did just that)

Ugh, yes… As you could read in my reading goals yesterday I plan on writing more reviews in 2019. And hopefully this won’t happen again haha. Whenever I write this down, I really think I will post a review, but I just forget all about it somehow. Next year though… 😉

4. Folded down the page of a book

I used to do this allll the time. But I don’t think I have done this in quite a while actually. Definitely haven’t done it this year, so that gives me a ‘nice’ stamp right? I don’t really care about doing this to be honest, but I have so many pretty bookmarks that I like to use those haha.

5. Accidentally spilled on a book

I don’t think I have done this! Years and years and years ago I did drop a book in the bathtub but I haven’t read a book in the bath ever since haha. And while I do eat and drink while reading I usually read an ebook while doing that. So no accidental spilling for me!

6. DNF a book this year

Nope, I don’t DNF books. I don’t think I ever DNF’ed a book, or at least not consciously. There are some books that I stopped reading for now, but I have every intention of picking those back up. Whenever I start a book I just need to know how it ends at some point, so DNFing just isn’t an option for me unfortunately.

7. Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it

I always have every intention of reading my purchases, at some point in the future at least haha. When being honest with myself, I’ll probably won’t get to all of them. But at least the intention is there haha.

8. Read while you were supposed to be doing something else

Oh men, allll the time! I’m always reading and I’ve been late to so many appointments (especially with friends) because I was so emerged in my book. Or I thought I could easily finish a chapter (or a book) before meeting up with someone, only to be pounded by texts where the hell I am and that they’ve been waiting forever… oops. And obviously I’d rather read than finish my assignments for my post masters degree haha.

9. Skim read a book

I actually haven’t done this ever! What has happened, is me zoning out while listening to an audiobook and realizing I missed something haha. Usually I do rewind the audiobook though, so I’ll still get the whole story.

10. Completely missed your Goodreads goal

Can’t say this has happened! I peaked at my previous Goodreads reading challenges quickly and the only time I didn’t reach my goal was in 2014 when I just joined Goodreads. Since I joined in February I’m not sure if I added all the books I read that year but I ended up  reaching 93% of my goal. Not too bad right! And since then I have reached my goal every year, and this year I smashed my goal actually.

11. Borrowed a book and not returned it to the library

This has happened only once! And it has been about 15 years ago haha, I think I can be let off the hook by now right? I also payed an insane amount to the school library for losing that book, and I actually did find it later and think I still own it haha.

12. Broke a book buying ban

I don’t do book bans so that’s an easy one! One of my reading goals for 2019 is to buy less books though, so maybe next year we have a different answer. I set myself the goal to read 4 books I already own before I’m allowed to buy a new one.

13. Started a review, left it for ages, and forgot what the book was about

Ugh, usually I don’t even start the review haha. But when I do, and I don’t write it soon, I do forget what I liked and what I disliked about the book. I’ll either leave it be or I’ll look at some other reviews and that way my thoughts usually come flooding back. If I still can’t remember what happened, I’ll just leave it be, apparently the book didn’t really make an impact!

14. Wrote in a book you were reading

HA! Candyce and I actually did this together this year! This is part of our ‘secret project’ we really need to start up again haha. All I can say, yes I wrote in a book, and I liked it! Will 100% do it again haha.

15. Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads

Nope, I’m actually really good at updating my Goodreads. I have the app on my phone and I use it almost daily. It really is one of my favorite apps on my phone. The only thing that sometimes happens, I’ll have a book listed as currently reading and then start reading another book, and that first book will be listed as currently reading forever. Usually I put it back as to read or I do pick it back up before it starts to really bug me haha.

16. Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend

I don’t have that many reader friends in real life so this is not something that really happens to me. Currently I have three books that I borrowed from a friend, but I haven’t read them yet so therefor I haven’t returned them yet. It will happen though! Unfortunately I did lose some books this way 🙁

17. Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book

I would love to loan someone my books haha. Unfortunately as I said, I don’t have that many real life reader friends. The ones I do have are probably sick of me trying to get them to read my books by now haha.

18. Broke the spine of someone else’s book

Since I hardly ever borrow someone else’s books, this can’t even happen. But when I do borrow books, I’m always very careful with them. I don’t mind broken spines myself, but I know other people do so I try to read them carefully and give them back in the same condition as I got them!

19. Took the jacket of a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged

This unfortunately has happened 🙁 I try to be so careful with my dustjackets and usually take them off to protect them while reading. If only it worked out that way all the time. But alas, sometimes they end up more damaged then I intended.

20. Sat on a book accidentally

Haha, yup! My bed is always littered with books so I have definitely sat on a book accidentally. I might have even slept on one without noticing!

End result:

Naughty: 8/20

Nice: 12/20

Aaaah, woohoo! I did not expect this, but I guess I’m on Santa’s Nice list this year! Now I just need to be more on top off my reviews in 2019 and I will be a very good girl 😉 Where do you think you end up on Santa’s list this year? Let me know in the comments!
