Bookish Item| Book Beginnings on Friday

Do you ever just not know what to post about? Normally I have tons of ideas floating around my mind for these bookish items. Today I don’t have the lightbulb lighting for me. So I decide to participate in Book Beginning on Fridays. This meme was created by Rose City Reader.

The idea is to post the first sentence or so of the book you’re currently reading. After that you talk about your initial thoughts about the sentence, book or anything to do with that. I don’t know how often I will do this, but it seems like fun from time to time.

To continue our Shadowhunter week, today I will be talking about Queen of Air and Darkness. Don’t worry about spoilers for it though, I just barely started. It could contain spoilers up until Lord of Shadows though, because I will write down my expectations!

“There was blood on the Council dais, blood on the steps, blood on the walls and the floor and the shattered remnants of the Mortal Sword. Later Emma would rememer it as a sort of red mist. A piece of broken poetry kept going through her mind, something about not being able to imagine people had so much blood in them.”

I have to say I didn’t think it through when I put Queen of Air and Darkness on my Christmas wishlist, haha. When we started the buddyread for Lady Midnight and Lord of Shadows, I guess I never expected to be completely done before the release of the third and final book in this trilogy.

I need it now though, so I ended up getting the e-book. After reading this first paragraph though I am very afraid. It’s clear it starting off right where Lord of Shadows ended. I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of heartache and the need for revenge.

The events at the end of Lord of Shadows is going to leave a lot of characters broken! I am really curious to see if these characters will pull together and fight or take a turn down the wrong path. I’m also very curious to see how everything with the Unseelie King plays out.

I think Queen of Air and Darkness is going to be one big emotional rollercoaster, but I also expect some hope and maybe even some humor. I hope these characters can support each other and get over this loss they will never forget. I am afraid of characters we may lose in this story though!

I could write a whole book about what I expect and want to see in this story, haha. Have any of you read these books? What did you think?
