We decided to add a new post to the blog starting this month. As you know, we show you the books we bought or received every month. This got us thinking, how many books have we actually already read from our hauls? So now once a month we will be looking back at our bookhauls from a year ago and tell you what we have read!
If we haven’t read many of them, hopefully this will motivate us a bit more to read more of the books we already own, haha. So this month we will talk about our bookhaul in September 2017.
Candyce
In September 2017 I bought six books and three graphic novels. That isn’t that bad of a haul if I do say so myself, haha. Let’s take a look at what I have read since then! If I have reviewed them you will be able to click on the title!
Tower of Dawn was the first book I picked up and read from this pile! I loved this story. Even though a lot of people don’t like Chaol, I still definitely recommend reading it! This was also the first buddyreview we posted on the blog!
The Dead House – Dawn Kurtagich
I bought The Dead House for a buddyread around Halloween. It seemed like it was going to be a thrilling book and it was a bit creepy. In the end it wasn’t what I was expecting of it and I was a little disappointed. The Dead House is still an entertaining Halloween read though.
One Dark Throne – Kendare Blake
Of course I have already read this one!! Three Dark Crowns is becoming a favorite series of mine. A year later and I already read this one and the third book, Two Dark Reigns. I’m going to be sad it’s over!
They Both Die at the End – Adam Silvera
Yay! Another book from this TBR that I have already read, haha. They Both Die at the End is a beautiful book, but it broke my heart! I can’t imagine what it’s like knowing you will die within 24 hours. I was wondering if I would be able to connect with the characters when the story takes place within 24 hours, but this author knew how to write this to make you feel things!
If There’s No Tomorrow – Jennifer L. Armentrout
I bought and read this book, because I wanted to read it, but also because I was meeting the author soon as well. Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of my favorite authors and this book was amazing! If There’s No Tomorrow brings forward a subject that isn’t often written about. I cried while reading this, but it was so good!!
Godsgrave – Jay Kristoff
The first book I haven’t read yet! To be honest, I still need to read Nevernight. I will be waiting until next year to read this though, because I have heard the ending destroys you and makes you want the third book right away. The author postponed the release of the last book, so I will save myself from the torture until next year.
Papergirls Vol. 1
I haven’t read this graphic novel yet, but I have heard amazing things! I should make time soon to just sit down and read this. They don’t take long to read, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Saga Vol. 1 & Vol. 2
Just like with Paper Girls I haven’t made time to sit down and read them. I should soon though, because if I enjoy them, I can put the next ones on my Christmas wishlist.
Okay, I read five out of the nine things I bought on my bookhaul in September 2017. This isn’t that humiliating, haha. Hopefully I will be able to get to the graphic novels before the end of the year.
End result:
Read: 5/9 – 56%
TBR: 4/9 – 44%
Isabelle
I had a pretty okay bookhaul last year! And I think I did pretty okay with reading the books as well. Let’s take a look per title.
The Red Pyramid – Rick Riordan
I haven’t read this one yet, but since I bought it at a secondhand store I don’t feel so bad. This book only cost me 50 cents. I do still plan on reading it but it honestly isn’t very high up my TBR haha.
Career of Evil – Robert Galbraith
Another one I haven’t read yet, but also one from the second hand store for 50 cents. I can’t pass up a deal like that haha. This is one I do plan on reading rather sooner than later. It’s the third book in a series and I believe the fourth book is either out already or will come out pretty soon.
Obviously I read this one! I started reading the moment it arrived at my doorstep haha. This book was so incredible and I can’t wait till I get my hands on the epic finale to this series. I have never been a Chaol fan but I still loved this book and I got a new appreciation for him.
Wicked Like A Wildfire – Lana Popovic
I haven’t read this one, but I also don’t have any intention to read it. It’s currently in my unhaul pile, I’m still deciding if I want to bother with selling it or if I’ll just give it away. This story is not one I’m interested in and the only reason I have it, is because it came in a Fairyloot.
The first book I did read! I read this one pretty soon after I got it and was actually surprised at how much I liked this one. My expectations weren’t that high but this one set the bar very high for the conclusion to this duology.
Wonder Woman: Warbringer. – Leigh Bardugo
This is one I only finished recently. I was hoping for an amazing story, I love Wonder Woman, I love Leigh Bardugo and most of my friends absolutely loved this one. Unfortunately I was really underwhelmed by the whole story and I didn’t really care for the main characters.
Sneeuw en As – Diana Gabaldon
I haven’t read this one yet, it’s the Dutch version of the sixth book in the Outlander series. This one is in the edition I collect and is pretty hard to get by. So I’m super happy I already own it and I did recently read the second book in the series so I’m slowly making my way to it haha.
End result:
Read: 3/7 – 43%
Unhaul: 1/7 – 14%
TBR: 3/7 – 43%
It was interesting to see what we’ve already read from the books we bought a year ago. Are you the type to read books you buy right away? Or do you let them pile up like we do?
Candyce – I don’t blame you for wanting to wait to read Nevernight and Godsgrave! I loved them but I neeeeed the third book!!! Also you should totally read Saga!! Its my favorite graphic novel!!
Isabelle – Warbringer is on my TBR and I have heard so many good things about it, I am sorry you didn’t like it more!

I was so sad that I didn’t like it more either! I know Candyce really enjoyed it, hope you do too. And yes, Candyce really needs to pick up Saga right!
I (Candyce) have heard so many good things about Saga! I have the week off next week, I may just need to give them a try!
Hi sweetties, mind if I steal our idea? Will mention you girls, obviously!
