Down the TBR Hole #12

Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story, and I found it over at Howling Libraries. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 15 books at a time so lets get started!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?
  • Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!

Current “to-read” shelf: 1092 (Not even going to comment on it anymore…)

Books #61 – #65

The Scorpio Races – Maggie Stiefvater

I love Maggie’s books so I’ll absolutely keep this <3 I’m also a horse girl so I really enjoy reading the rare YA books that incorporated horses.

Decision: Keep

Hopeless – Colleen Hoover

I have never read a Colleen Hoover book, and I’m not sure I’m that interested in them. At some point I do want to read one of her books but I don’t know which one yet.

Decision: Remove

Never Let Me Go – Kazuo Ishiguro

I forgot what this books was about and reading the synopsis doesn’t ring any bells. But it does sounds really intriguing and I absolutely want to read it haha.

Decision: Keep

Mr. Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore – Robin Sloan

The title alone has me interested and the synopsis sounds intriguing as well. So that’s an easy choice.

Decision: Keep

Three Times Lucky – Sheila Turnage

Reading the synopsis for Three Times Lucky doesn’t really get me excited to I guess that says enough. Let’s get rid of this one!

Decision: Remove

Books #66 – #70

Finnikin of the Rock – Melina Marchetta

I’ve heard a ton of good things about this one. Also some mixed reviews but I feel like the points they made are mostly things that wouldn’t bother me. So I guess I’ll just have to find it all out for myself 🙂

Decision: Keep

The Demon King – Cinda Williams Chima

I actually own this book! So this isn’t a very difficult one at all 😉 Can you guess what iI’ll do?

Decision: Keep

The Girl of Fire and Thorns – Rae Carson

I think this one has gotten quite some attention, since I’ve never had the urge to actually pick this one up or order it I don’t think I’ll read this one.

Decision: Remove

Stormdancer – Jay Kristoff

While I do plan on reading all of Jay’s book at some point, my priorities are with Nevernight at the moment. If I’ll like those than I’ll pick this back up.

      Decision: Remove

Splinter – Sebastian Fitzek

I own this one and have actually started reading it at some point. While I put it down and I’m currently not reading that many adult thrillers, I will pick it back up at some point. I actually moved the book to France, it felt like it would be more fitting to be read there.

Decision: Keep

Books #71 – #75

Girl, Missing – Sophie McKenzie

I liked the book I read from this author so I’m willing to pick up another book by her. This might be the one, or it might be another one but I do like to have one book by her on the list.

Decision: Keep

Ugly Love – Colleen Hoover

Same as the other Colleen Hoover book, not sure which one I want to try but I don’t need all of her books on my want to read list.

Decision: Remove

Lament – Maggie Stiefvater

Same as with The Scorpio Races, it’s a Maggie Stiefvater book, I won’t remove this ever haha.

Decision: Keep

The Lies of Locke Lamora – Scott Lynch

This is another one I own and I’m actually extremely excited to read this one! It’s kinda shameful that I haven’t picked this one up yet, even though I’ve been saying I want to read it forever. Hopefully I’ll pick it up soon because I hear only good things about it.

Decision: Keep

Night School – C.J. Daugherty

Based on the cover I would say remove haha. I did look at the synopsis and while I can definitely see why I added it in the first place, after a quick look at some of the reviews I think I can safely say that this one isn’t for me.
