Review| Not So Nice Guy – R.S. Grey

R.S. Grey has become, one of my many, favorite romance authors. She is amazing at writing romantic comedies that have you laughing out loud. Not too long ago I read and reviewed Arrogant Devil. Once again I was lucky to receive an ARC from the author of her new release, Not So Nice Guy. Today I’m here to share my review!

“Oh my god. Who that?”
I get asked this question a lot.
“Oh him?” I reply. “That’s just Ian.”

Just Ian is the biggest understatement of the century.
Just the Mona Lisa. Just the Taj Mahal. Just Ian, with his boring ol’ washboard abs and dime-a-dozen dimpled smile.

Just Ian is… just my best friend.

We’re extremely close, stuck so deep inside a Jim-and-Pam-style friendzone everyone at works assumes we’re a couple – that is until one day, word spreads through the teacher’s lounge that he’s single. Fair game. Suddenly, it’s open season on Ian.

He should be reveling in all the newfound attention, but to our mutual surprise, the only attention he seems to want is mine.

He’s turning our formerly innocent nightly chats into x-rated phone calls. Our playful banter sports a new, dangerous edge.

I want to assume he’s playing a prank on me, just pushing my buttons like always – but when Ian lifts me onto the desk in my classroom and slides his hands up my skirt, he doesn’t leave a lot of room for confusion.

I’m a little scared of things going south, of losing my best friend because I can’t keep my hands to myself. So, I’m just going to back away and not return this earth-shattering kiss – oh who am I kidding?!

Goodbye Ian, ol’ buddy, ol’ pal!

Helloooo mister not so nice guy.

Review

Cover R.S. Grey really sticks to certain covers. The couple on the cover always has models that fit the certain story. These aren’t my favorite covers, but her books are amazing, so I can overlook the covers, haha.

Plot Once again I was sucked into this book from the start and was laughing out loud. An author that uses Harry Potter references, always scores points with me, haha. As a big fan of friends to lovers romances, I knew I was at the right place for a wonderful story and I was right.

Sam and Ian have been best friends for a few years and both have feeling for each other. The only problem? The other one doesn’t know. This creates some hilarious moments. It’s fun seeing them try not to notice attractive details about each other or just trying not to stare at all! It’s clear that they have their own routine and can’t really live without the other. Even the school they work at, they have created their own little bubble in the lounge. I love how they always bring different things to luch and trade. If you didn’t know any better, you’d say they are a married couple.

The fact that there are unknown feelings, gives us some hilarious, laugh out loud, moments. I love how awkward they can be around each other and let’s just say, make sure to check who you’re sending an e-mail to before hitting send.

Sam is such a relatable character. She is a bit shy and insecure at times. Sam is also very good at thinking things over way too many times I am definitely guilty of that at times). She is a bit awkward in some situations and I can so see myself in her, haha. I love how R.S. Grey’s characters are far from perfect.

Ian on the other side, could be seen as the perfect book boyfriend. He’s thoughtful, sensitive, only has eyes for one girl an will do anything for her. He’s good at teasing her and cares for what he does. I think we can check off all the important book boyfriend characteristics.

A lot of romances have drama. This one included, but in Not So Nice Guy, it’s not as angsty as some romances have. It actually leads to some other funny moments in this book. Most of R.S. Grey books get 5 stars from me, but this one scores just a little lower. For me the ending was a bit too rushed (I would’ve loved some moments to have had more time. Also, there is a certain part of the book that rubbed me the wrong way when Sam was freaking out.

All in all, definitely another amazing romantic comedy written by this amazing author.

If you’re looking for a fun friends to lovers romance that makes you laugh out loud, Not So Nice Guy is the book for you!
