Wishlist Wednesday | Books with an Ice or Snow Theme

The weather here in the Netherlands is insane, it has never been this hot for this long so we decided to show the ice or snow themed books on our wishlists! Thinking about cold books felt really good and hopefully we’ll get more appropriate weather soon haha. Let’s take a look at those books on our wishlists.

Stitching Snow – R.C. Lewis

This Snow White retelling is set in space. Snow White is missing and she’s hiding out on a planet where it’s always below zero. Ugh, I wish I was there right now! The seven dwarves are seven drones in this retelling and that sounds simply delightful. It also sounds like there will be an epic space war and I’m definitely interested in this one. The reviews are pretty mixed but I’ve seen some positive reviews from people I trust so I want to check it out myself.

Winter’s Tale – Mark Helprin

I came across this book when I watched the movie trailer and realized it was based on a book. That trailer looked so so good but I have yet to watch the movie since I haven’t read the book yet. I absolutely love this edition, isn’t that cover gorgeous? To refresh my memory, I read a couple of reviews for this one and while it’s a BIG book, almost 800 pages, it sounds wonderful. New York City, a burglar falling in love with the daughter of the man he’s robbing, an epic love, trying to bring people back from the dead, flying horses, what more could you want?

Ice Wolves – Amie Kaufman

This middle grade novel has the perfect title and cover for this week’s wishlist Wednesday haha. I loved the Illuminae files series and would really like to read something else written by Amie Kaufman. Unearthed by her is waiting for my on my TBR but I would love to add this one as well. The story sounds amazing and since it’s a MG I think friendship will play a big role. Friendship stories are something we need more of in the YA collection in my opinion. This is also a wolves vs dragons and a sibling story and I’m all in!

The Bear and the Nightingale – Katherine Arden

This one has been on my wishlist for quite a while and now the third book is pretty close to being published already. The Bear and the Nightingale is the first one in the Winternight trilogy and I would love a winter night right about now. Everyone seems to love this whimsical fairytale set in medieval Russia. That alone is enough to get me interested but the synopsis really sells it. Although I do have a feeling the synopsis was a bit to extensive and it probably spoiled like half the book. So I wouldn’t recommend reading the synopsis haha. If you liked Uprooted (which I loved) I think this will be something you’ll enjoy!

15850937Frozen – Melissa de la Cruz I have never heard of this series before, but a place covered in ice sounds good right about now. This story sounds really interesting as well. Now that I have heard of this one, it’s definitely going on my list.

Shiver – Maggie Stiefvater I loved The Raven Boys, so I’m definitely interested 6068551in reading more by this author. The cover of Shiver is really simple, but very pretty. Maggie Stiefvater has an interesting writing style, so I’m looking forward to seeing what she does with this.

11801954After the Snow – S.D. Crockett I would love to be in the forest covered in snow right now, haha. This sounds like an interesting adventure. It’s classified at dystopian, so that makes me curious. After the Snow doesn’t have the highest rating on goodreads, but then again I don’t let that stop me.

Winterkill – Kate A. Boorman This is another book classified as science fiction20702025 and dystopian. I guess hearing trees call would belong there. I wonder if there’s really danger on the other side of the wall though!

The fun thing about doing these wishlists is that we find books we never would have otherwise. What is your favorite ice or snow themed book?
