Blog Tour| Break – Cassia Leo

Cassia Leo is a new to me author and her newest book Break sounded like it would be something I love. I have been reading a lot of romances lately, but not many second chance romances. Add a rock star to the mix and I was sold. Today is my spot on the blog tour and I’m here to share my review!

BREAK by New York Times Bestselling Author Cassia Leo is out now and #FREE in Kindle Unlimted! Read it now!

Synopsis

A humorous and heartbreaking second-chance stand-alone romance from the New York Times bestselling author of the Shattered Hearts Series.

For six years, she was the only one. My best friend. My kitten. My world. Then, I broke us by getting caught in a web of lies.

Hard to believe, after everything we’d been through, I could do what I did to her… in front of 600,000 people. I doubt she’ll ever believe I did it because I love her.

Three years later, my music career is booming. I have a movie deal in the next comic book reboot. And now the only parent I have left has been given a death sentence. I have to go home, but going home means facing what I did to her.

Review

Cover This model does seem like the typical idea we have of rockstars. After reading the book, I have to say this is how I would imagine Ben.

Plot Cassia Leo’s writing style had me hooked from the start. Break was a fast read and I couldn’t put it down. On top of that, I love the idea of the playlist for this book. Each chapter is a song title and I could actually click on the title to go to the song. This made reading Break a whole different experience.

When I first started reading this book, I wasn’t sure I was going to like Ben. I mean, it’s so mean to break up with your girlfriend on social media to be seen by millions of people. To say Charley is a bit bitter about that is an understatement. Fast forward a few years and she is still feeling it.

Ben has become really famous and is even going to star in a Marvel movie (I love what the author did with that, haha). Only his world is turned upside down when he finds out his father is sick and doesn’t have long to live. Charley never expects to see him again and especially not under these circumstances. I love that we do keep switching between now and then and that we get both characters’ POV.

It’s still clear that these two characters click, but a lot has happened. Can they get back to the way they were? As I was reading it becomes clear that there was more to the story that meets the eye (I won’t say anything more than that, you should find out as you read). Even so, everything that happens is very hurtful. Charley is stuck between two hard situations, either spend time with a man who hurt her or help him out with his dying father who she’s close with.

That is one thing I loved about Charley. She was there for his father and really wanted them to have time together. It’s clear that the attraction between them is still there, but there is still too much hidden and Ben isn’t ready to share yet. I love that they both have groups of friends there for them. They need it.

There were a few things that bugged me though. Even years later, Charley was still blaming Ben for not finishing college and because of that not having a career. I hate when women in books let men rule their worlds like that. It’s easy to blame someone else instead of figuring it out. Also, the fact that Plan B was so easily used as birth control. In this day and age there are so many options, I would like to hope that people are smarter than that.

All in all, it was a story I enjoyed and I was happy with how it ended. I’m sure it ‘s hard to be a rock star and have a private life.

About Cassia Leo

New York Times bestselling author Cassia Leo loves her coffee, chocolate, and margaritas with salt. When she’s not writing, she spends way too much time re-watching Game of Thrones and Sex and the City. When she’s not binge-watching, she’s usually enjoying the Oregon rain with a hot cup of coffee and a book.
