Show Sunday | Six Summer Shows

Last week we introduced something new, Show Sunday! We are both big fans of tv shows and love fangirling about them. Twice a month we’ll doin a Show Sunday. The summer time is always a slow time for tv shows and I usually catch up on some of the fall/winter shows during the summer. However there are also a couple of amazing shows I’m watching this summer. Let’s take a look at six of those summer shows!

Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger

This show is a new one this year and while I’m not completely caught up I’m really enjoying it so far. It’s based on the Cloak and Dagger comics, I’m not familiar with those but am definitely interested in them now. This superhero show feels quite different from other ones and I started to care for the characters almost immediately. I like the combination of action and more dramatic storytelling. My hopes are pretty high for this one and I need to catch up on the latest episodes soon.

Younger

We’re currently in season 5 with Younger. Younger is about a single mom pretending to be 26 to get a job. It’s a fun 20 min show and I have been enjoying it for years. The show can be pretty ridiculous but always manages to make me love. While I’m still enjoying it, I do wonder how long they can keep this going. More and more characters are aware of the ‘secret’ and I feel like it’s loosing some of its allure. I hope they’ll stop when the show is still good and don’t let it go on for too long. Time will tell!

The Bold Type

This is one of my absolute favorite summer shows! Season two started a couple weeks ago and I’m looking forward to a new episode every week. The Bold Type is about three best friends working at a big magazine. They manage to tackle important issues in most episodes and I’ve been tearing up almost every episode so far haha. There are a ton of funny moments as well and I keep laughing out loud all the time. I hope this show will live a long and prosperous life. The third season was already ordered after season 1 so that must be a good sign.

The Originals

Currently airing is the fifth and final season. I’m pretty sad this is the last season of this The Vampire Diaries spin-off series. After The Vampire Diaries lost it’s charm this easily became my favorite out of the two shows. As I said, I’m quite sad that it’s almost over. Next week we’ll have the very last episode and the last couple of weeks every episode had me balling my eyes out. The stakes have never been so high as during this season and absolutely no one is save. There have been some pretty emotional deaths in the previous seasons but this final season is not playing around! I still can’t believe I only have 1 more episode to go….

Shooter

We’re already watching season 3 of this action packed show! I never watched the Shooter movie so I’m not sure how it compares but I can say it’s a highly enjoyably, suspenseful and great show. The first season basically covers the movie and I wasn’t sure if they would be able to make us a compelling second season. They sure did, and the third season is once again really great and I’m loving all the suspense. I also really enjoy all the actors and actresses in this show and I hope they can give us another great season next year!

The 100

I’ve written a couple of posts about the 100 already so you might know how much I love this show. This fifth season is once again amazing and completely different from the previous ones. There are so many characters to love and its amazing how my feelings for some of the characters change with the seasons. Some characters I used to hate but are now beloved characters. Others I used to love but can’t stand right now! I love how this show can toy with your feelings so easily and can’t get enough of it. However this show would seem like it can’t possibly go on and on and on so I hope they can think of some more interesting storylines for us to watch.

Do you watch any of these summer shows? And what are some of your other favorite summer shows? Please let me know in the comments, I’m always looking for new recommendations!
