We have been having fun with Top Ten Tuesday, so we decided we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Since last January Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is red, white & blue books (or your own country’s flag). Tomorrow is the 4th of July in the States, so it’s very fitting. I decided to pick a few blue, red and white books. Let’s take a look!

1. The Trials of Morrigan Crow This was one of my first middle grade reads in a long while, but I loved it! This story is compared to Harry Potter, but not in a negative way. I loved the little comparisons, but it’s so unique in its own way. Morrigan thinks she’s cursed and is brought to Nevermoor on her 11th birthday. A whole world opens up for her and she discovers there is a lot more to her story than she thought. My favorite part is the bedrooms that change to what you want/need.

2. Renegades The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favorite series! So when the author announced this book, I was very interested. Renegades definitely has a different type of storyling, but sounds just as good. Isabelle has already read this book and couldn’t put it down. I was planning on reading this book after our visit to see Marissa Meyer, but of course so many books, so little time, haha.

3. Our Dark Duet This is the second book in the Monsters of Verity duology. This was yet another book I was mad at myself for taking so long with. These two books are amazing and so unique. Our Dark Duet is definitely a dark book and in a lot of ways, the characters don’t live happily ever after. Reading this duology was also very refreshing, because there was no romance (not really anyways). Most YA books are focused on some type of romance and  Our Dark Duet stood out because of that.

4. The Wrath and the Dawn This cover is beautiful and I’ve heard nothing byt amazing things about this duoogy. They have been sitting on my bookshelf for almost two years (I really should be ashamed)! There really is no reason why I haven’t gotten to these yet, haha. Most of the reviews I have read people are speechless about just how good this is written. Maybe this means it needs to be moved higher on my TBR!

5. A Court of Thorns and Roses This is the start to one of my favorite series. I have to say this book did start off a bit slow to me, but I still couldn’t put it down. When I read it a second time, it really grew on me. Little details I didn’t really notices before popped out and I appreciated some characters in different ways. In the beginning, I didn’t even like Rhysand (I know, how could I?). Luckily that changed when I read A Court of Mist and Fury.

6. Breath of Fire This is the second book in the Kingmaker Chronicles! Look at how beautiful the cover is! Breath of Fire is filled with mythology and some amazing characters. A friend of mine described these as the adult version of Sarah J Maas books. There is an inner circle and a lot of humor. I have the third book on my bookshelf to read, but I want to reread the first two before I dive in.

7. Warcross Marie Lu has written quite a few books, but this was the first thing I read by her. I was definitely pleasantly surprised! We are taken into a world where technology lets you be inside a game and even see the world differently. All you need is  a certain pair of glasses. The main character goes on an adventure and ends up figuring out a lot of things are different than they seem. September can’t come fast enough! I want the second book.

8. Throne of Glass Another Sarah J Maas series, haha. I am a fan, what can I do? Throne of Glass is definitely my favorite! Isabelle & I are rereading them all before KoA comes out at the end of October. I love being back in the world. Rereading definitely makes you realize this author had a lot more planned out than you think when you start reading! Little details that come back in another book. Amazing!

9. A Darker Shade of Magic Yet again another trilogy that I have only read the first book from, haha. It really comes to how much time I have, because I LOVED it!! The fact that  there are different Londons and time travel. The characters are amazing and the worldbuilding is stunning. I really need to finish this!! We really need more days in the week, haha.

10. Till Death To end this week’s TTT, I decided to do a book with all three of the colors. I haven’t read many thrillers, but this one is one I really enjoyed. Jennifer Armentrout made it impossible to figure out who it was. Till Death is more than a thriller or a love story. Just how a book needs to be I think. Most books this author writes are things I love, so I hope she writes more!
