Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story, and I found it over at Howling Libraries. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. I went through my want-to-read shelf a little while ago but I think I was still to kind on a lot of books. Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started!
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Current “to-read” shelf: 337 (so far this isn’t really working, haha. I keep adding books!)
The books on this week’s Down the TBR Hole were added to my To Read shelf in 2013. I wonder how many I actually can remember.
Shoe Addicts Anonymous – Beth Harbison
Remove
Reading the synopsis of this book again, I can understand why I added it when I did. Shoe Addicts Anonymous is the exact type of book I was in at that period in time. Now seeing it again, I kind of have to think of the Shopaholic series and I think it will be a bit too much like that. Only a husband who isn’t as understanding/nice as in that one.
Keep
To be honest, I’m surprised I still haven’t read this book. The Book Thief is a book you see everywhere. There is even a movie (that I haven’t seen either. Oops?). I have a feeling this is a book that is hard to read, but beautiful at the same time. Definitely a reason to put this higher on my TBR, because I really want to read this.
Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns – Lauren Weisberger
Keep
I loved The Devil Wears Prada. The movie was good, but the book was even better. Revenge Wears Prada was a book I put on my TBR as soon as I heard there would be a sequel. Unfortunately, this is another book that I have totally forgotten about. I honestly think this is a book I won’t pick up until it’s a vacation moment. Revenge Wears Prada seems like the perfect book to read at the beach.

I must have discovered this author at a certain point, because the next few books are by her. The Look is a book I really can’t remember. After reading the sypnosis again, it kind of seems like a story I have read many time before, but just slightly different. If I had read this book right away, I probably would’ve loved it. In the years since adding this book I have read so many amazing books. The Look doesn’t seem like it will be able to compare.
Sequins, Secrets and Silver Linings – Sophia Bennett
Remove
Okay, after looking at the cover I am seriously wondering what I was thinking when I added this book! I think I discovered the author and decided to add the books I ran into. This isn’t a book I see myself reading anymore.
Beads, Boys and Bangles – Sophia Bennett
Remove
Beads, Boys and Bangles is the second book of the Threads Trilogy that the book before this one belongs too. For some reason I managed to add the German version of this book, haha. I can’t even find the English description on Goodreads. That’s a definite remove then.
Sequins, Stars and Spotlights – Sophia Bennett
Remove
After removing the first two books of this trilogy from my TBR, I think it’s safe to say that this one will follow. I still love the titles of these books, but there just not for me anymore. The only positive thing about finding series like this, is that it’s good for my TBR, haha.
The Little Lady Agency – Hester Browne
Remove
The Little Lady Agency is yet again another book this week that isn’t for me anymore. I completely understand why I added this book. This type of book was my favorite thing to read back then. My taste has changed over the years. So while this may be an amazing book for some, it’s just not for me anymore.
Destined to Play – Indigo Bloome
Remove
I think I added this book when I was determined to read all of the books like Fifty Shades, haha. There is definitely nothing wrong with that, but I think I’ve had enough for the moment. Destined to Play may be a book I pick up in the future, but for now I have to remove it.
S.E.C.R.E.T. – L. Marie Adeline
Remove
This week’s Down the TBR Hole is interesting. I opened the page to S.E.C.R.E.T. and it was in French. It makes me wonder if I really payed attention when adding books in 2013, haha. Time to see if I can find the English version. It took me some time, but I was finally able to track down the English version. An underground society that helps women figure out their deepest sexual fantasies. No thank you. That doesn’t appeal to me.
To Read Shelf after this Down the TBR Hole: 329
Removal Percentage: 80%
I would say I did really good this week. Eight out of ten of these books have been removed from my TBR. What do you think? Would you keep any of these books that I have removed?
