Wishlist Wednesday | Anticipated Releases May

This year has been filled with so many amazing new releases and we just want to read ALLLL of them! April is almost over so it’s time to take a look at the May releases. Will we be able to control ourselves? Or will it be another month filled with new books we can’t resist? Let’s take a look!

A Court of Frost and Starlight – Sarah J. Maas (May 1st)

Okay, anything by Sarah J Maas is an autobuy and I can’t wait for us to get more Rhys! I think the only issue about this book will be it’s too short. It’s only a novella.

A Date With Darcy – Tiffany Schmidt (May 1st)

A book about book boyfriends, do I need to say more? We obviously need this right away! Can’t wait to read this one.

The Smoke Thieves – Sally Green (May 1st)

To be honest, I haven’t read anything from Sally Green. I love most books with royalty, politics and possible marriages, haha. I will have to check this one out.

The Lies They Tell – Gillian French (May 1st)

This is a YA thriller with a pretty decent synopsis. I have read both positive and negative reviews and am excited to find out where I’ll fall.

Spies, Lies, and Allies – Lisa Brown Roberts (May 1st)

This sounds like an interesting story with drama and mystery. I hope some humor as well. By the looks of it, it seems like it will be another good book for this time of year!

Ship It – Britta Lundin (May 1st)

This sounds so cute and the setting is something I really like in contemporary reads: comic cons. It’s about fangirls, discovering your sexuality and finding the courage to act on your crush.

The Poppy War – R.F. Kuang (May 1st)

First things first, don’t you love that cover?! This is an Asian inspired dark fantasy, and the reviews I’ve seen so far are RAVING. I really want to pick this one up soon. It’s the first in a trilogy and according to the author its a geopolitical drama with brutally cruel choices. Do I need to say more? GIVE TO ME NOW!

The Queen Underneath – Stacey Filak (May 8th)

To be honest, I find this synopsis a little bit confusing but I do think I could potentially really like this book. There is an ‘Above’ and an ‘Under’ world which sounds interesting, a plot to assassinate the rulers, yay assassins, and a love interest that is different from the ones we see all the time, now that’s a romance I can enjoy!

The Way You Make Me Feel – Maurene Goo (May 8th)

It’s almost summer time, so what’s better than a book that takes place in the summer as well? I love contemporary stories, so this one sounds perfect. When a prank goes wrong, the main character has to work in a foodtruck for the summer. It will be fun to read about the adventures this character has on the truck.

Onyx and Ivory – Mindee Arnett (May 15th)

One of the first things I saw when looking at the synopsis was ‘Traitor Kate’ now somehow that already had me intrigued and I knew I wanted to read this one right away. There are also ‘nightdrakes’ in this one, how cool does that sounds?!

War Storm – Victoria Aveyard (May 15th)

We’re both not up to date with this series but after really liking Red Queen we just have to continue and find out what happens with Mare, Maven and Cal!

The Game Can’t Love You Back – Karole Cozzo (May 15th)

This sounds like a cute sports romance were the female character actually plays a sport as well! I love sports romances and am very excited to pick this one up.

Aftermath – Kelley Armstrong (May 22nd)

This is YA thriller that occurs three years after a school shooting. That is such a heavy topic and I expect this to be very emotional. But from the synopsis I also expect a twist in the story that will set this book apart from others. I think this is definitely one you need to be in the mood and the right headspace for but I for sure want to read it.

Snotgirl Vol 2: California Screaming – Bryan Lee O’Malley (May 22nd)

As you may have read in my latest comic reviews I really enjoyed Snotgirl Volume 1! As soon as I finished it I went online to order volume 2, only to find out it wasn’t out yet. I’m so happy that it will be out this month as I can’t wait to find out what happens next. Volume 1 had a pretty unexpected ending and my expectations are pretty high!

Furyborn – Claire Legrand (May 22nd)

I already own an ARC for this one, we got it in a Fairyloot last year and I really planned on reading it before now, but here we are haha. This story sounds pretty cool! It’s a fantasy which is always good and the synopsis sounds EPIC, I really hope this first book in a trilogy can live up to what the synopsis promises us.

All the Ever Afters: The Untold Story of Cinderella’s Stepmother – Danielle Teller (May 22nd)

As the title suggest; this is a reimagining of Cinderella but told from the stepmother’s perspective. This sounds really interesting to me, I love reading from the person we think is the villain and gaining new insights.

Legendary – Stephanie Garber (May 29th)

We were a bit disappointed by Caraval last year, that book was so hyped and our expectations were sky high. Unfortunately we didn’t like it that much and if this story would’ve been about Scarlet again I don’t think we would’ve been interested at all. But since its about the other sister this time I’m willing to give it another chance. Hopefully with our lowered expectations we will enjoy this one. And I obviously need another of those beautiful hardcovers 😉

Listen to Your Heart – Kasie West (May 29th)

Kasie West writes such cute and light hearted contemporaries and I don’t even care what they’re about haha. After a heavy fantasy book this is exactly the story I want to pick up.

The Disappearance of Sloane Sullivan – Gia Cribbs (May 29th)

This YA thriller is about a girl that has been in the witness protection program since she was 12 and witnessed a murder, I think it might be her parents murder? Anyways, I haven’t read any thrillers like this but it sounds like something I would highly enjoy!

LIFEL1K3 – Jay Kristoff (May 29th)

After finishing the incredible Illuminae series we just can’t pass up this new Jay Kristoff book. I hope this can cure the bookhangover Obsidio got us 😉

3506873536373464350685343506873632333026

All of This is True – Lygia Day Penaflor (May 15th)

YA readers befriending their favorite author, that sounds like a dream! Unfortunately in this novel it’s more of a nightmare and there supposedly are many twists. Sounds amazing to me!

From Twinkle, With Love – Sandhya Menon (May 22nd)

I still need to read the first book, but they sound so cute and I have heard a lot of positive things! I had to post this one here to remind myself that I need to get around to reading the first book.

Monday’s Not Coming – Tiffany D. Jackson (May 22nd)

I haven’t read anything by Tiffany D. Jackson, but her book Allegedly is one that has caught my eye a few times. This one also sounds really good. What happens when someone seems to disappear and no one really cares? It sounds like it will be an emotional rollercoaster ride.

9 Days and 9 Nights – Katie Cotugno (May1st)

This one is kind of a sequel to 99 Days. I haven’t read that one yet but I really enjoyed this first Katie Cotugno book I recently read. I definitely want to pick up more of her books. They’re cute contemporaries and that is just perfect for this time of year.

Love & Luck – Jenna Evans Welch (May 8th)

I have read both of her books and loved them! Love & Gelato was so cute, so I have a feeling this one will be like that one expect in Ireland now! I have been slected to be on the blog tour, so you will be seeing a review of this book in May! So keep an eye out 🙂

My So Called Bollywood Life – Nisha Sharma (May 15th)

This sounds like a very adorable contemporary read! It involves film geeks and that is something I really enjoy. I’m expecting this to be a cute read in between fantasy books or contemporary reads with heavy topics.

Girl Made of Stars – Ashley Herring Blake (May 15th)

I don’t think this will be an easy read. This book discusses some hard subjects, but I have seen some good reviews on Goodreads and on other bookblogs. Ashley is another author I have had my eye on, but just haven’t read anything from yet.

We’ll Fly Away – Bryan Bliss (May 8th)

This book is going to break my heart, but I really want to read it. I think that this will be really interesting. What leads someone to do something that gets them on death row? I have never read a book like this before, so I am very curious how the author put this on together.

The Academy – Katie Sise (May 22nd)

A fashion blogger off to military school sounds like a hilarious combination. Definitely a book that can be read at the beach on a beautiful day. Perfect for this time of year!

Dating Disasters of Emma Nash – Chloe Seager (May 1st)

A lot of our life is online these days and this book shows us why this isn’t always the best thing. It sounds like a lot of awkward moments, with some humor and hopefully a happily ever after.

If You Don’t Have Anything Nice to Say – Leila Sales (May 1st)

I read another book by this author years ago but remember flying through it and finishing it in 1 day. This one is about public shaming and I hope it’s as good as The Exact Opposite of Okay.

Outcast – Taran Matharu (May 1st)

We met Taran last Sunday and he was so nice! We both still need to read The Novice but after hearing him talk we bumped it up our TBR’s. We’ll hopefully read it soon and than we can just continue with the rest of the books in this series.

Royals – Rachel Hawkins (May 1st)

I have seen this book all over the place the last few months, so it caught my eye. I love pink as well, so that caught my eye right away. I can’t imagine what it’s like having a sister being with a prince and your life being put in the spotlight as well. Your life getting turned upside down to learn all things expected of you and an interesting royal who doesn’t want to follow the rules.

Tradition – Brendan Kiely (May 1st)

This book wasn’t on my radar until I saw a sign up for the blog tour. It sounds like a really interesting book that takes place at a school that doesn’t really follow the rules and hidea a lot of secrets. I’m sure being the new kid in a school like this can be difficult, just like already being a student, but wanting to move on. The review to this book will be going up on May 1st, so if you want to know more about the book, keep an eye out!

The Handsome Girl and Her Beautiful Boy – B.T. Gottfred (May 8th)

282691713570705635960814

Puddin’ – Julie Murphy (May 8th)

I started reading Dumplin’ awhile ago and just haven’t gotten around to finishing it. Not because I wasn’t enjoyying it, but other books keep getting in the way, haha. I have heard a lot of positive things about Dumplin’ and about this new one. Maybe this one releasing will give me the push to finish Dumplin’.

Undead Girl Gang – Lily Anderson (May 8th)

Doesn’t this title sound amazing? The main character resurrects her best friend and two other girls who she thinks have been murdered. The official story is that they were part of a suicide pact and they now have seven days to find out what actually happened. Sounds like a good mystery to me and the first review I saw for this one was very positive!

The Accidental Bad Girl – Maxine Kaplan (May 15th)

On top of being caught with her best friend’s boyfriend, senior year gets even worse when her online identity is used for drug dealing. Her life gets turned upside down. This sounds like an interesting book. I can’t wait to see how the author wrote this one and how it turns out in the end.

344992363409288535901105

Airports, Exes, and Other Things I’m Over (May 15th)

Always Never Yours – Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka (May 22nd)

I can’t imagine how hard it is if everyone you date finds their true love after you. That must be very despressing, haha. Being casted as Juliet in the school play only makes things seem worse. This sounds like we will get a lot of hilarious moments and maybe the main character will finally find her own true love.

The Brightsiders – Jen Wilde (May 22nd)

A teenage rockstar as a main character already makes it clear that the book will be interesting! I love the cover and think this will be a fun book with some funny and touching moments. This is the last book on this list that will also get a pot on our blog for a blog tour this one. So another one to keep an eye out for!

May is another full month of highly anticipated books! What books are you most looking forward to? Did we miss any?
