We have been having fun with these Top Ten Tuesdays, so we decide we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Starting this January Top Ten Tuesday will be hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s topic is a freebie and that did scare me a bit at first haha. I’m not that great with choices and like to stick to the given topics. However, I looked over the list with old topics and immediately saw one that I wanted to do! So my theme for today is: Books I Just HAD To Buy…But Are Still Sitting On My Bookshelf. Because unfortunately I have a LOT of those haha. Let’s take a look at the books I picked for today!
1.The Diviners – Libba Bray
This book had been on my radar for a while and little over a year ago I came across it in a bookstore. I knew I HAD to have it as I really wanted to read it. It came gift wrapped and to be honest that paper stayed on there for at least a couple of weeks. I still really want to read this one but somehow have yet to actually pick it up.
2. King’s Cage – Victoria Aveyard
I absolutely adored Red Queen so naturally had to get the second book, Glass Sword right away. Unfortunately I didn’t really like the sequel, still I HAD to have King’s Cage as soon as it came out and since then I have been wanting to read it. I’m just a little bit scared that this one will be another let down! However the last book is coming out soon and I do really want to finish this series so I’m planning on getting to this one soon.
3. Hunted – Meagan Spooner
This cover is SO SO pretty and I heard so many great things about this one. I wish I had a good reason for not picking this one up yet but I’m afraid I really don’t… I absolutely love Beauty & the Beast retellings and this one sounds awesome. I just heard about Meagan’s new book and that one has another stunning cover! That did get me pumped to pick this one up soon though.
4. Heartless – Marissa Meyer
I love every single book by Marissa Meyer I have read (the Lunar Chronicles & Renegades) and the premise of this one sounds AMAZING. Everyone I know who has read this really enjoyed it so I’m pretty ashamed to say I still haven’t picked it up. I was so excited when I got it and really planned on reading it right away…. After recently reading Renegades I’m once again really excited to read this one and hope that it will happen soon!
5. This Is Our Story – Ashley Elston
I heard about this book in a video from one of my favorite booktubers: SuperSpaceChick and knew I HAD to have this book right away. The story sounds like something I would enjoy immensely and I really like this cover. I bought a copy this summer and was really planning on reading it right away or at least in the fall because this book just screams Fall Read. Somehow it didn’t happen and I do think I will have to wait for fall to come back around before I’ll pick this one up haha.
6. The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas
Talking about books I’m ashamed of to not have read yet…. Obviously this is a book I couldn’t NOT buy and after all the raving reviews I really wanted to read it as soon as possible. But somehow I still haven’t picked it up. I don’t read as much contemporary so that definitely plays a part here but I do really want to read this one. I’m prepared for a very emotional read and just talking about it here gets me all excited to pick it up right away.
7. Forest of a Thousand Lanterns – Julie C. Dao
This is one of my most anticipated reads before it came out! I was so excited to finally be able to read it and was super happy to get it in a Fairyloot. However, as I seem to do with books I get in subscription boxes, I found a spot on my shelves and haven’t touched it since, apart from the time I rearranged my entire bookshelves. This story still really speaks to me, I hope it can live up to my high expectations the moment I do decide to pick it up.
8. The Dazzling Heights – Katharine McGee
I enjoyed the first book in this series, The Thousandth Floor, so much when I read it before the Dutch release last year. The ending ensured I wanted the sequel right away! And after waiting a year I got The Dazzling Heights pretty soon after it was released. I did start reading it, but then I got another highly anticipated release and this one was forgotten. I have been eyeing this one a couple of times and do really want to pick it up soon!
9. Cruel Beauty – Rosamund Hodge
Another Beauty and the Beast retelling! I think this was one of the first and I have seen so many reviews for it. It had been on my wishlist for quite a while and I was so excited when I finally got a copy myself. But, as this theme goes, I still haven’t picked it up. I have seen some negative reviews since getting this and I’m kinda scared that it will be a disappointing read for me. As soon as I’m in the mood for a fantasy heavy on the romance I will pick this one up.
10. The Lies of Locke Lamora – Scott Lynch
And the last book on my list today! I have been looking at this one for quite a while and have been wanting to buy it for so long. It’s been a while since I finally got my hands on a copy but I haven’t gotten around to actually reading it. The book is over 700 pages long so it’s a bit daunting to be honest! I have just read a couple of reviews (again) and I kinda want to start reading this one right away haha. Just talking about some books really gets me in the mood to start them!
So that was my list for today. I really enjoyed this topic and like I said, it gets me in the mood to pick these books up right away! Did you read any of these? One I should pick up immediately? Let me know in the comments!
Don’t feel ashamed! I still have The Hate You Give on my list too!
That does make me feel better!
Ahhh some of those are still sitting on my shelves too haha
Haha I need to stop buying and start reading ALLLL of them haha
I want to read Hunted and the red queen series also! I have forest of a thousand lanterns I’m reading it next month!
Hope you enjoy it! I really want to pick it up soon
