At the start of this week we posted our book hauls (with ALLLLL the books haha). I also told you all that you could expect an America Bookhaul from me. I’m currently on a holiday and obviously I had to buy books. I had most of them shipped to my friends place and I also bought a couple. I’m still here but I don’t think I’ll be buying anymore books as it’s going to be a challenge to get them all home as it is haha. Enough talking, let’s look at those books!
My first (and largest) stack of books is from Bookoutlet. They had some amazing offers on Boxing Day and I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity haha. There were some books on sale that I have been wanting to get for quite a while so I got a nice stack of 10 books.
Ruined – Amy Tintera
I’m possibly the most excited about this one haha. I have been wanting to read it for quite a while and now I finally own it. I really hope it can live up to my expectations.
Wintersong – S. Jae-Jones
I know my friend Melissa will be so happy to see this one on here. She absolutely loved this book and while I saw some mixed reviews I just had to get it and try it for myself. I hope I’ll love it as much as Melissa does.
The Girl at Midnight – Melissa Grey
If I’m being completely honest, I don’t really remember what this one is about… I know I wanted to buy it a while ago but they didn’t have the cover I wanted (I think). So when I came across it, with the right cover!, I put it right in that basket haha.
The Reader – Traci Chee
The covers on the books in this series are just simply gorgeous. Definitely the reason I was first interested in this one haha. Candyce read it and really loved it and our friend Annabel really loves it as well. Those are good enough reasons for me to get it 😉
A Shadow Bright and Burning – Jessica Cluess
I’m not completely sure if I’ll enjoy this one, the reviews are VERY mixed. The premise sounds like a book I would immensely enjoy so I decided to give it a shot! And I mean, a beauty of a hardcover like that, for such a bargain price, who can pass that up?
The Girl From Everywhere – Heidi Heilig
Another super interesting premise, just reading it now makes me want to pick up the book right away haha. I recently read Daughter of the Pirate King and really enjoyed that one. I hope this is kinda similar (while being very unique obviously haha).
Magonia & Aerie – Maria Dahvana Headley
Possibly a coverbuy… I decided to just get both books in this duology. I normally don’t buy the second book in a series until I’ve read the first one. But again, the covers and the price really got to me. Also, while I don’t know that many people who have read Magonia, all that did read it seemed to really enjoy it.
The Queen of Blood – Sarah Beth Durst
I love titles like this! And sure, there are so many books with similar titles. I haven’t heard to many people talk about this series but the third book in the series is published this year so if I like it I can just continue the whole series right away!
These Shallow Graves –Â Jennifer Donnelly
I have to admit I actually thought this was another book when I ordered it haha. BUT after reading the synopsis I think I will really like this one. I have been craving Historical Fiction after watching the tv show The White Queen and The White Princess and this one is also a mystery, perfect combination!
While I hadn’t planned on ordering anymore books – 10 seemed sufficient – I heard about a deal at Barnes & Noble… 3 YA hardcovers for 30$. So obviously I had to check that out.. And found a ton of books I really wanted. I had to make a selection but ended up getting the following books.
The Belles – Dhonielle Clayton
I think everyone has heard of this book by now, this was one of the most anticipated books of the first months of 2018. I adore that cover so much! I hear some mixed things about this one, most negative reviews point something problematic out while the positive reviews seem to not mention that at all. It will be interesting to see how I feel about this book after reading it.
Reign the Earth – A.C. Gaughen
I haven’t heard that much about this book?! And I’m not sure why haha. It’s a fantasy, and we all know how I love my fantasy novels. It’s about elementae people and that sounds great. That’s actually all I want to know haha.
This Mortal Coil – Emily Suvada
I have been going back and forth on this one. We included it in one of our anticipated releases but shortly after I wasn’t interested in it anymore, and I can’t remember if it was because of a review or just that I lost interest in the premise. However, I still LOVED the cover and I read (another) review that peaked my interest again. And than the book buying splurge happened and here we are haha.
Unearthed – Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner
I have been looking forward to this one for quite a while and this might be one of the first one’s I’ll pick up haha. I have been craving sci-fi a lot recently and this premise just sounds right up my alley! There’s not much more to say, I’m just really excited about this one!
The Empress – S.J. Kincaid
I quite enjoyed reading The Diabolic last year but didn’t really want it to be a series. I would’ve liked it better as a stand alone but alas, it was turned into a series. For a while I didn’t plan on continuing these books, but then I ended up reading some reviews… I really enjoyed the characters in this one and I guess I’m willing to give the series a try.
Hunting Prince Dracula – Kerri Maniscalco
This is another series I hadn’t planned on continuing. I enjoyed Stalking Jack the Ripper but was ultimately disappointed by the story and the ‘twist’. I guessed the twist before even starting the book and it just didn’t live up to all the raving reviews I read. However, I LOVE the title for book 3 haha. And to get there I need to read the second book 😉 So I decided to give the series another try, hopefully I’ll like this one better.
So I had bought all of these books before I even got to the States haha. I did want to visit Barnes & Noble, as I always do. I told myself I was only allowed to buy comics and manga as they are usually smaller or thinner and there would be some room in my bag for that. I was hoping for some comics as they would be the easiest to bring haha. However they were pretty expensive compared to what they cost online and I just couldn’t bring myself to get them. The manga were very decently priced though and I loved browsing the shelves for new favorites to discover.
The Promised Neverland 1 – Kaiu Shirai
The title is what first grabbed my attention, after reading the premise I knew I wanted to read this one. And I already did! I really enjoyed this one and number two is already ordered haha. I will read it as soon as I get home and hope the rest of the series will get translated SOON.
My Hero Academia 1 – Kohei Horikoshi
I recognized this title from the anime that is on my to watch list. I’m happy I picked up the manga first and I also read this one right away. This is a highly enjoyable story and I can’t wait to find out what else this one has in store for us. And yes I also ordered the second one for this series haha.
Gangsta 2 – Kohske
I recently read the first one and was happy to see this one of the shelves. I read this right away as I got home and while the story is pretty confusing from time to time I find this series to be very enjoyable and will continue it.
So that was my big USA book haul! What did you think of it? Any books you read and want me to pick up soon? Let me know in the comments!
You bought a lot of great books!
I’m currently reading Hunting Prince Dracula now and it’s pretty good!
Thanks! I’m so happy with all of them!
I’ve heard a lot about those Hunting Dracula books what do you think of them??
I was a bit disappointed after reading the first one to be honest. But I love the title of the third! And the premise in general, so I’m giving it another chance!
