TTT #21|Characters I liked That Were In Non-Favorite/Disliked Books

We have been having fun with these Top Ten Tuesdays, so we decide we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Starting this January Top Ten Tuesday will be hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is all about characters you liked that were in non-favorite or disliked books. To be honest, I don’t really like this one haha. There aren’t that many books I disliked and for me to than still like the characters is even more rare. So I went to Goodreads, sorted my books on my rating and than started to browse for ones with characters I liked. Apart from the first two, all of these are from books I gave 3 stars so I definitely didn’t hate the books, I just didn’t love the as much as other books.

1.Stevie Rae – The House of Night Series by P.C. Cast & Kristen Cast

I still can’t believe I’ve read all of the House of Night books! There were wayyyy too many haha, but I did want to find out how it all ended so I kept pushing through. It’s been a while since I read them but I do clearly remember really enjoying Stevie Rae. She’s an amazing best friend and I liked that she got her own story as well. She was not ‘just’ the best friend.

2. Chloe King – The Nine Lives of Chloe King Series by Celia Thomson

Now this was pretty hard, I first watched the tv show based on these books I that probably colored my opinion. I was pretty disappointed by the first book and haven’t continued the serie and probably won’t continue it anyways. I really liked the premise and overall story but the there wasn’t happening that much in the first book.

I feel like I’m kinda rambling here haha, but this really had me debating including any the 100 characters. As you guys probably know, I absolutely ADORE the tv show (is it April 24th yet?) but I also read the first three books. And I was not impressed, like at all…. And the only reason I do LOVE the characters is because of the tv show. So I decided to skip them haha. Okay fangirl rant over. Back to the rest of this TTT 😉

3. Cammie Morgan – Gallagher Girls Series by Ally Carter

This is one of my guilty pleasures! I really enjoyed these books and Cammie is a fun character to read about. Nothing in these books is remotely realistic and neither is Cammie but it is just so much fun! It also kinda shows that you can do anything 😉

4. Harriet Manners – Geek Girl Series by Holly Smale

Another guilty pleasure! I had read the first one quite a while ago and lately I’ve been listening to the audiobooks. Harriet is such a fun character, she’s kinda nerdy, always getting into trouble and has a serious problem listening to people to see what’s going on or what she’s supposed to do. This always ensures the most hilarious situations and I just can’t get enough.

5. Warner – Shatter Me Series by Tahereh Mafi

I definitely liked the last book, the one that came out last month, but I wasn’t a fan of Shatter Me, and not really a fan of the second and third book either to be honest. However I did really like Warner! I hated Adam and always rooted for Warner haha.

6. Kenji – Shatter Me Series by Tahereh Mafi

Same as above, but I absolutely love reading about Kenji! He is such a fun character and I can’t wait to read more about him. I really liked seeing him again last month and together with Warner he’s the reason I’m continuing these books haha.

7. Mal – The Descendants by Melissa de la Cruz

Andddd another guilty pleasure haha. I really enjoyed the first book about the Descendants of our famous Disney villains and I think I also saw the first movie. It was so much fun reading about the villains after our hero’s happy ever after. Mal was actually a pretty good hero for a villain!

8. Jay – The Descendants by Melissa de la Cruz

Same as Mal, I really enjoyed reading about the kids of the villains we know and love to hate. The kids were simply impossible to hate though! They were fun, cute, and great characters. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Jay and Mal.

9. Carlos – The Descendants by Melissa de la Cruz

Carlos was such a cute descendant, his story was pretty sad from what I remember and I just really felt for him. Talking about these last three characters really makes me want to go and read the next two books.

10. Samirah ‘Sam’ Al-Abbas – The Magnus Chase Series by Rick Riordan

I enjoyed the first book in the Magnus Chase series but haven’t really felt the urge to pick up the rest of the books yet. I do like reading about all the different myths and the books are fun and quick reads. Sam was a great character to read about, I liked how diverse she was and when I continue this series it’s probably mostly because of her haha.

I made it!! I actually found 10 characters I liked from books I didn’t like / were non favs. Pretty proud to be honest haha. Did you read any of these books? And what did you think about this character? Let me know in the comments!

  1. For a moment I saw Mal and I almost had a heart attack, cause I thought it was the boring Mal from Grisha. I`ll admit, I have not read any of these, though I plan on picking up Magnus Chase soon.
