Yesterday we let you all see what we read in March, today we get to show you what books we added to our bookshelves this month. We both want to read more of the books we already have, so were we able to resist the urge to get new books?
Candyce
This month I added 11 new books to my bookshelves. I think it’s a pretty good number. I got 3 of these books for my birthday (Isabelle gave them to me in our birthday boxes). My mother gave me a giftcard to buy a couple books, so all in all I think I did pretty good this month! The next few months won’t be as much. I get to do some fun things, so I need the money for that, haha.
The Exact Oppostie of Okay – Laura Steven
I’m honored to be a part of Laura’s street team and this book sounded so good, so I had to preorder it. I read it in just about one sitting a couple days after its release and it was so good. It has a message every girl needs to read. Our review came online last week, so make sure to check it out.
The Prophecy – Jennifer L. Armentrout
After taking this picture, I figured out that Nevermoor was a book I got last month and the one that should’ve been in the picture is The Prophecy. This is the last book in the Titan series. I have heard from so many people that these books end in cliffhangers, so I decided to wait until they were all out before reading. So, I can finally start! I loved Seth in the Convenant series, so I hope he gets a chance to have a happily ever after.
Dangerous Girls – Abigail Haas
This was a book Isabelle has talked about before and she made me curious. I knew if I added it on my birthday list it was going to be in my birthday box, haha. I was right! So this one needs to be on my TBR some time this year.
It Only Happens in the Movies – Holly Bourne
I saw this book a few times at the bookstore and wanted to buy it, but kept putting it back. Isabelle noticed this, so another book on my birthday list she decided I needed to have. It sounds like a book I will love. I think I will save this one for the summer weather when I can sit outside with a book.
Romeo and What’s Her Name – Shani Petroff
Last year I read My New Crush Gave to Me by this author and it was so cute. I have a feeling that this one will be too. It’s not a very long book, so I think I will read it in no time. Another book to read after a heavy read.
Obsidio – Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman
After reading the first two books in this trilogy it was a no brainer that this one needed to be delivered to me on release day. Unfortuantely, the site I ordered it from lost my package, so it was a few days late. I read it right away and was really impressed. This one was definitely more brutal though. They did things I never expected.
Children of Blood and Bone – Tomi Adeyemi
This is a very hyped book and to be honest I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. A Facebook group I’m in (TBR and Beyond) is doing this as group read, so I decided to make sure I had it. I don’t know if I will make it on time for the read, but I will try.
Chaotic Good – Whitney Gardner
Before Epic Reads came out with their list of anticipated reads for March, I had never heard of this book, but I’m happy I did. First of all the cover is amazing and inside the chapter headers are dice and there are comics in the book. Mention cosplay and D&D and you definitely have me curious, haha.
The Pros of Cons – Alison Cherry, Lindsay Ribar & Michelle Schusterman
I love books when characters go to cons, so when I saw this one I had to have it. I’m not a big fan of the cover, but the naked hardback is gorgeous. The story sounds very cute and I think very interesting things will happen with these characters.
People Like Us – Dana Mele
This book came in my Celebrate Books box and I was happy I was right that it was this one. I’m a big fan of Riverdale and it sounds like this one has a lot of similarities. The cover is amazing!
The Black Witch – Laurie Forest
Apparently there is a lot of controversy surrounding this book, or there was. I kind of missed it, because I just heard about this book, haha. Once again it’s a TBR and Beyond group read (this one is for April) and it sounds really interesting. I was surprised when I got it, because it’s a signed copy!!
I also received some ARCs and e-books to read and review. Below I will show you the covers, but seeing how most already have a review on the blog or will shortly I won’t be going into the details.
Isabelle
This month’s haul was pretty insane haha, 20 books!! (I forgot a couple on the overview pic). And I’m not counting the books that were waiting for me when I got to America, I will leave those for my America haul you can all expect soon! I would say, let’s get in to them quickly! It’s a mix of books from the gift exchange Candyce and I did, my personal bday book haul and my incapability to not buy any more books.
Ms. Marvel Volume 1: No Normal – G. Willow Wilson
I’ve been wanting to read this one forever so when I saw it for a great price at Amazon.de I couldn’t resist it (I think I typed something similar yesterday? haha, well it’s the truth!). I think it’s been a year since I started to get more and more interested in comics, I’m really enjoying them and as I usually read them right away I never have to feel bad about adding books to my TBR.
Snotgirl Volume 1: Green Hair Don’t Care – Bryan Lee O’Malley
This is another one that I had my eye on for awhile, even though apparently I had totally forgotten what it was about haha. I got this one for my birthday, my mom took me to the bookstore and I got to spend some moneyyyyy. Now that’s a gift that’s always highly appreciated.
Saga Volume 2 – Brian K. Vaughan
After reading Saga volume 1, I knew I had to continue with this series. I love the art style and I’m excited to travel the worlds within this universe. This was another birthday-book-buying-gift book.
Gangsta 1 – Kohske
Apart from comics I’m also slowly making my way into the manga section of storytelling. I’ve got a little list of series that I will probably like, based on recs and booktube video’s, but whenever I get to a store they seem to be out of the first one in all of those series basically haha. I did manage to find this one (another bday book) and read it already. Little spoiler, I got book 2 in America, and read that one as well haha, more about that in my America haul.
Bleach Volume 1 – Tite Kubo
This seems to be one of the most populair manga’s out there so when I saw that they did have the first one for this, I figured I would just go for it. I haven’t read this one yet but hope to get to it soon!
The School for Good and Evil: Quests for Glory – Soman Chainani
I absolutely adore the original trilogy for these books and I’m so happy we’re getting more of them. This is definitely my favourite middle grade read. I got this one in my bday box from Candyce as you might’ve seen in our post about it. Can’t wait to read it!
A Promise of Fire – Amanda Bouchet
Candyce and another friend of ours LOVE this series so I put it on my wishlist hoping Candyce would get it for me. I didn’t make it easy on her, I put so many great books on that wishlist haha, including a ton I knew she wants me to read haha. I’m excited to dive into this world.
Follow Me Back – A.V. Geiger
This was another of those books that Candyce enjoyed a lot and wanted me to read. So when I got it, I started it immediately and finished in a day haha. This was such a suspenseful and amazing read, I highly recommend it. Although I would probably have to tell you to wait until the second one is released haha, you will not want to wait for that!
These next three books are all part of my bday-book-buying-gift and are all in Dutch. I read the first ones in Dutch so I thought it made sense to read the sequels in Dutch as well. We got to meet these authors last year at YALFEST NL and it was so much fun!
The Defiant – Lesley Livingston
I really loved the Valiant and I can’t wait to continue Fallon’s story. Lesley is a great human being and I’m excited to find out what shocking twists she has waiting for us haha.
Phobos2 – Victor Dixen
I did not expect to like Phobos as much as I ended up doing and I already read the second book haha. I really need to get the third one soon!
The White Rose – Amy Ewing
The Jewel was another one I honestly didn’t expect to like haha. My friend Willemijn convinced me to give it a try anyway and I ended up enjoying it a lot. I’m hoping to get that same enjoyment from the second one. Amy Ewing was so sweet as well!
All The Crooked Saints – Maggie Stiefvater
I love the Raven Cycle books by Maggie Stiefvater so I just had to get her newest book. I hope it has some of that magical feeling that the Raven Cycle books have. I haven’t read anything else by Maggie so I”m excited to find out what I’ll think of her stories when they’re not about Blue and her boys.
Shadow Run – Adrianne Strickland & Michael Miller
My friend Melissa was raving about this one last year so when I was browsing the bookstore for another bday book I saw this one and knew I wanted to get it. I’ve been craving sci-fi lately so I’ll probably read it pretty soon!
The Doll’s House & Liar Liar – M.J. Arlidge
I read the first book in this series a little while ago in Dutch and really enjoyed it. I already owned the second one in English haha, I had bought it without realizing it was part of a series. I still need to read that one but when I was in Belgium the previous weekend I saw these two for a good price and since I know I want to continue the story I figured I would just get them. I had also won a little bit of money at the casino the night before so it was nice to spend that money on books.
People Like Us – Dana Mele
This was the book that came in the Celebrate Books Box. It was supposed to come in February but because of the late release date it didn’t end up arriving until probably the second week in March. I was hoping for this book and I’m really excited to read it!
Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow – Jessica Townsend
How insanely pretty is this book?! I really wanted this one, as Candyce said it was the groupread in the TBR and Beyond facebook group, but since I had already seen this edition I just had to get this one. It took some searching but I ended up finding it on Amazon.de. I haven’t read it yet but will probably read it very soon. I have to admit that my expectations are pretty high so I hope it can live up to it.
Obsidio – Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
I just had to get this as soon as it came out. I really enjoyed reading Illuminae and Gemina. I was a little late to the party and only recently read them but that just meant I didn’t have to wait that long for the last book. These books really sold me on sci-fi!
Renegades – Marissa Meyer
Since we we’re going to meet Marissa Meyer I wanted to finally own this one. I had planned on finishing it before we would meet her but that didn’t end up happening. I did however start reading it on the train ride home haha. And I got sucked right in!
Children of Blood and Bone – Tomi Adeyemi
Everyone has been talking about this one! And I just couldn’t help myself haha. I had to get a copy. I’m not sure if I’ll get to this one soon but I do hope so.
We both had a great month when it comes to books, even though it’s not helping us read more of our TBR, haha. What books did you buy in March that we need to know about?
My favourite kind of posts😍😍
What a great collection girl!
The black witch sounds really Catchy♥️
Can’t wait to read your reviews on these gems👌
Yeah, we are very happy with our hauls! A lot of reviews should be up this month.
Obsidio, can’t wait. I have to read the first two before getting the third. Everyone says its great!😀
It is! The whole trilogy is amazing and unique!
My review for children of blood and bone comes out this week and GUYS IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!
AAAAH Can’t wait to read it!!
