Wishlist Wednesday| Anticipated Releases April

Another month is just about over. This means it’s time to see what books will be releasing in April. The last three months have been full of a lot of new releases we want to read. Will April be another month that has too many books we want to read? Keep reading to find out!

Leah on the Offbeat – Becky Albertalli (April 24th)

Simon vs. the Homosapiens Agenda and The Upside of Unrequited were both amazing books. Becky Albertalli has become an autobuy author. We met Leah in Simon vs. the Homsapiens Agenda, so we can’t wait to read her book.

The Fates Divide – Veronica Roth (April 10th)

There was a lot of controversy when the first book came out. A lot of people were saying there was a lot of racism in this book, while others love it. All I know is the cover was beautiful, just like this one. I own Carve the Mark, but haven’t read it yet. I will metion this one, because once again the cover is amazing. Depending how I feel about Carve the Mark, we’ll see if I buy it down the road.

Ash Princess – Laura Sebastian (April 24th)

I love stories with adventure and a royal family. Add a bit of magic and I think there’s a good combination to tell an amazing story. This also sounds like a story where the main character starts out as a weaker character, but in the end is stronger than she even realizes she can be.

Ace of Shades – Amanda Foody (April 10th)

I have seen this book everywhere online these days! The cover is amazing and the book sounds like it will keep us on the edge of our seats. The reviews I have read so far from people with ARCs have all been pretty positive. I own Daughter of the Burning City by this author, but it’s another book that looks amazing. Once I actually read both of these books, I have a feeling she will become an auto-buy author.

Dread Nation – Justina Ireland (April 3rd)

I’m normally not a big fan of horror books, but zombies do sound interesting. The fact that the main character is female in a time where women weren’t really appreciated, I’m curious to see how this is brought to life.

Sky in the Deep – Adrienne Young (April 24th)

Look at how amazing this cover is! It seems like another story where the woman comes to save the day after being betrayed. This does sound really interesting, but I’m curious to see how it will be unique compared to stories we’ve seen like this before.

Love & War – Melissa de la Cruz (April 17th)

Hamilton is a very popular subject at this time and this is the second book in Alex & Eliza. I haven’t read Alex & Eliza yet, but  loved the cover and how the story sounded. This cover looks just  as amazing! Seems like a perfect summer read.

Winter Glass – Lexa Hillyer (April 10th)

This is the second book in Spindle Fire. I love retellings and Spindle Fire is on my TBR as well. The cover of Winter Glass looks really inviting, so I may just need to get to Spindle Fire sooner than I planned.

Defy the Worlds – Claudia Gray (April 3rd)

This is the second book in the Constellation duology. Defy the Stars came out last year and also had an amazing cover! I heard nothing but good things about that book (yes, another one that I own, but still need to read). This book is described as thrilling and romantic, so sounds like something I will love.

Isle of Blood and Stone – Makiia Lucier (April 10th)

Once I read about mapmakers and riddles I was sold. This sounds like an amazing adventure with lots of secrets that will be revealed. I think it will be very interesting.

Bacon Pie – Candace Robinson & Gerardo Delgadillo (April 13th)

The first thing that caught my eye was the title. Bacon Pie? What kind of book could that be? Turns out it’s a cute contemporary. The main character is described as a geek. Those are the kind of stories I love reading during the summer, so it’s definitely on top of my list.

Suitors and Sabotage – Cindy Anstey (April 17th)

I (Candyce) already knew this book would be releasing, because I am lucky enough to have an ARC of this. It takes place in London and looks amazing! It takes place quite awhile ago and seems like a romantic historical fiction that I’m going to love. Of course, my review will be posted on the blog in April.

Son of the Dawn – Cassandra Clare & Sarah Rees Brennan (April 10th)

Cassandra Clare is giving us another line of short stories in the Shadowhunter World. Son of the Dawn is part of the Ghosts of the Shadow Market series. By the looks of it we’ll be getting one of these stories every month starting April. I can’t wait to read the new tales in this world.

Love Songs & Other Lies – Jessica Pennington (April 24th)

Yet another fun contemporary story that’s perfect for the summer. Rockstars, second chances and a summer adventure is perfect to read outside when it’s nice and sunny.

Starry Eyes – Jenn Bennett (April 3rd)

This sounds like there will be a bit of a modern day retelling of Romeo & Juliet and best friends that need to find their way back to each other. The group camping trip sounds like it will reveal a lot of secrets, pain and hopefully bring them back together in the end.

Queens of Fennbirn – Kendare Blake (April 3rd)

Finally another novella in this world!! We’ve both been patiently waiting for the third book in this series and hopefully this one will give us enough to hold us over until September when we get to read Two Dark Reigns.

Picture Us in the Light – Kelly Loy Gilbert (April 10th)

I need to say first of all that this cover is AMAZING! Family secrets, a tragic event and being afraid of losing a friendship sounds like a book that will be painful, but maybe in the beautiful in the end. This book sounds like it will be full of selfdiscovery and figuring out what is in your heart.

Sam & Ilsa’s Last Hurrah – Rachel Cohn & David Levithan (April 10th)

I loved this duo when they wrote The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily. It sounds like the party they’re planning is going to go so wrong, but probably be great at the same time. Definitely an adventure they both need before they graduate.

The Window – Amelia Brunskill (April 3rd)

I have gotten into mysteries lately, or at least they interest me more. Twin sisters normally know each other pretty well, but this story doesn’t seem to add up. What actually happened when the girl feel out of the window? I wonder if this will have an unreliable narrator. I love stories like that.

As She Fades – Abbi Glines (April 3rd)

Abbi Glines is amazing in taking a tragic story and giving the characters an amazing love story to help them heal and find light in their future. I have a feeling that is exactly how this book will be. I’m excited to read it!

Lizzie – Dawn Ius (April 10th)

A contemporary retelling of Lizzie Borden sounds like a fun twist. Her parents don’t want her to live the life she wants and that takes a toll on Lizzie. She’s starting to blackout more, what does that mean?

Stay Sweet – Siobhan Vivian (April 24th)

Another contemporary perfect for this time of year. Tradition changes when her best friend dies. Will the ice cream shop go on or will everything change? The cover definitely has a summer vibe!

Once again, we have a month full of a lot of new books that seem interesting. It’s easy to tell that summer is coming, there are more contemporary  books than the last few months. What books are you looking forward to in April? Did we miss any?
