Down the TBR Hole was originally created over at Lost in a Story, and I found it over at Howling Libraries. It looked like a fun and productive way to finally make a dent in that Goodreads TBR. My Goodreads TBR isn’t as big as Isabelle’s, but I also wanted to see if I could make a dent in mine. I’m sure there are plenty of books on there that I don’t even remember adding! Let’s see what I’ll make of it this time around. I decided to go with 10 books at a time so lets get started! I chose 10, because my TBR isn’t that big on Goodreads, so I don’t want to be done too quickly, haha.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 or 15 or 20, if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Current “to-read” shelf: 301
Books 1-5:
Eighty Days Series – Vina Jackson
The first five books on this shelf are all from the same series and author, so I will do them all at once. I added these I think after seeing them at a bookstore in 2013 when I was also into Fifty Shades. Looking at the descriptions now and the ratings, I don’t think I will ever pick them up. They don’t interest me anymore.
Decision: Remove
Books 6-10
Okay, my lists are rather boring this week. The last five are all Nicholas Sparks books, haha.
The Notebook – Nicholas Sparks
This has been on my list for ages and I have seen the movie quite a few times. I still don’t own this book, but I do love this author’s books. These are the perfect reads for the beach or just a relaxing moment, so I still need to get to this one.
Decision: Keep
A Walk to Remember – Nicholas Sparks
I think out of all of the books that have been filmed from this author, A Walk To Remember is my favorite. So it’s not hard to decide that this one needs to stay and I still want to read it.
Decision: Keep
Dear John – Nicholas Sparks
I think I am basically repeating myself in this post, haha. I keep saying I loved the movie and in this case, once again, I did. I haven’t read many books like this lately, but they still interest me. Once again, something I still need to read.
Decision: Keep
The Last Song – Nicholas Sparks
This is actually one I’m not sure about. Out of all of these books, this one seems the least interesting to me. There really hasn’t been a book by him that I hated, so I do want to give it a chance.
Decision: Keep
The Lucky One – Nicholas Sparks
Another one that I have seen, but still need to read. To keep it short and not repeat myself more than necessary, I will say it’s sticking around, haha.
Decision: Keep
Removal Percentage this week: 50%
Even though this was a rather boring start to this post, I think I did pretty good. Have you read any of these books? Did I make the right decision?
I’ve done this a few times and every time I try to do it again I end up wanting to keep everything.
It’s going to be hard, I can already tell now, haha. I want to see how far I will get.
And it makes it even harder with all the new releases I keep adding to it.
Very true, but there are so many books that are being released that sound really good.
How do they expect us to keep up? Or survive the tbrs that will inevitably fall on top of us?
Exactly! We are only in March and so many new releases. I am afraid to see what my TBR looks like at the end of the year!
If you’ve seen The Last Song I would take it off bc it’s literally the same thing minus a few things but the major stuff is all the same. It was cute but boring for me since the movie and book were so similar
That is good to know! I will be rethinking this one then.
