Movie Fave or Flop?| The Greatest Showman

Today I’m here to share something that has nothing to do with books, haha. I know, it’s weird right?!? In January I went to see an amazing movie and think everyone needs to see it. After seeing one of the cast members performanc on the Oscars, I just had to write a post about it.

The movie I am talking about is The Greatest Showman!

Storyline from IMDB (if you click on the title of the movie, it will lead you to the website. Orphaned, penniless but ambitious and with a mind crammed with imagination and fresh ideas, the American Phineas Taylor Barnum will always be remembered as the man with the gift to effortlessly blur the line between reality and fiction. Thirsty for innovation and hungry for success, the son of a tailor will manage to open a wax museum but will soon shift focus to the unique and peculiar, introducing extraordinary, never-seen-before live acts on the circus stage. Some will call Barnum’s wide collection of oddities, a freak show; however, when the obsessed for cheers and respectability showman gambles everything on the opera singer Jenny Lind to appeal to a high-brow audience, he will somehow lose sight of the most important aspect of his life: his family. Will Barnum risk it all to be accepted?

Review

Cast This movie has an amazing cast. To name a few: Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Zendaya and many more amazing actors and actresses! All of them together was the perfect fit to this movie. They all are very talented and know how to put on a show.

Storyline We basically see how the circus came to be and how he managed to get as far as he did. It starts off when he’s little and didn’t have much. I have to say I didn’t know what to think of this movie at first. I had seen the trailer and it looked good, but more than that I didn’t really look into this movie. This storyline was put together pretty amazingly. I loved the character development and how the shows were put together. This movie was up and down when it came to emotions, but I left the movie theater with a smile on my face. P.T. Barnum has a dream and he is determined to make it come true. The bigger he gets, the more he wants. Without realizing it, he is also pushing away his family and people who stood by him from the start. It just shows that fame and fortune isn’t everything.

Songs I think what made this movie so amazing were the songs. Each and every one of these fit the movie perfectly and was performed like the songs were made for the performers. As soon as I left, I wanted to hear all of the songs again. Not long after I found the playlist on Spotify and have been listening to it since. The songs are very catchy. Keala Settle performed her song from the movie ‘This is Me’ and that was so powerful. She had my mother and me in tears, haha. I think that’s what it is about the songs. The lyrics and way they are performed really make you feel something. I definitely suggest looking up some of the songs on Youtube. There were a few behind the scene videos of the making of this movie you should check out.

      1. Yes, Yes I Know but it´s really expensive on the cinema here so I´ll have to wait for it to come out on DVD.

  1. I saw this movie twice at the theatre and I’ve been in awe since I saw it just after Christmas. It’s brilliant. It’s amazing and the music is pure perfection!
I may have to write my own blogpost about this because I have a hard time not raving about it constantly! I was gutted when ‘This is Me’ didn’t win the Oscar, as it’s such an emotional and amazing song.

I LOOOOOOVE THE GREATEST SHOWMAN!!!!!!!!!! Alright, I’m done.. I think.. Okay leaving now.
