TTT #17 | Favorite Book Quotes

We have been having fun with these Top Ten Tuesdays, so we decide we will do one every week. This bookish meme was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and has been going since June 2010! Starting this January Top Ten Tuesday will be hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s theme is a hard one! There are so many beautiful book quotes and it’s going to be so so hard sticking to just 10! They won’t be in any particular order because that would be wayyyy to hard! Lets take a look at the 10 I ended up picking <3

1. from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – J.K. Rowling

It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live

Dumbledore says this to Harry in the first book and this is a quote that really speaks to me. I’m very much a dreamer myself and while that can be a good thing, you can also get lost in your own head and not be doing anything. So this is a nice reminder!

2. from Warcross – Marie Lu

Every locked door has a key, every problem a solution

I love this quote so much! Emika says this to herself a lot, and I believe she also has it tattooed. I’m actually thinking of getting this as a tattoo myself, although I would only get the first part. The second part kinda feels like an explanation and I don’t need that haha.

3 from Throne of Glass – Sarah J. Maas

You could rattle the stars. You could do anything, if only you dared.

This is another one that really speaks to me. This is probably my first choice for a tattoo. I need to be reminded every now and then that almost anything is possible if only you put your mind to it and work at it as hard as you can.

4. from Daughter of Smoke & Bone – Laini Taylor

Have you ever asked yourself, do monsters make war, or does war make monsters?

This is such a great quote as it raises an interesting question. Especially in the world of the book this quote makes such a valid point.

5. from Six of Crows – Leigh Bardugo

Many boys will bring you flowers. But someday you’ll meet a boy that will learn your favourite flower, your favourite song, your favourite sweet. And even if he’s too poor to give you any of them, it won’t matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns your heart.

True words to live by!! I love this series and love that it has such a sweet quote in it.

6. from Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell

To really be a nerd, she’d decided, you had to prefer fictional worlds to the real one.

Cath is such a relatable character for me and this quote is one of the reasons <3 I think we’re all nerds here and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

7. from Blue Lily, Lily Blue – Maggie Stiefvater

“Blue was perfectly aware that it was possible to have a friendship that wasn’t all-encompassing, that wasn’t blinding, deafening, maddening, quickening. It was just that now that she’d had this kind, she didn’t want another.”

There are so many beautiful quotes in the Raven Cycle books! I particularly like this one as it’s about friendship and I don’t think there are enough quotes (or books for that matter) about friendship! I love Maggie’s writing and I can’t wait for the Ronan spin-off books <3 I read the short story Opal last week and that immediately reminded me f why I love these books so much.

8. from Windwitch by Susan Dennard

“Because it is always easier to blame gods or legends than it is to face our own mistakes. This land is no more cursed than any other. It is simply steeped in too much blood.”

I enjoyed this series (or the two books that are currently out haha) so much and I just had to include a quote. It was pretty hard to pick just one but I went with this one. I thought this was so interesting and really made me think. I simply love it when quotes do that!

9. from An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

“There are two kinds of guilt: the kind that drowns you until you’re useless, and the kind that fires your soul to purpose.”

Another series with so many amazing quotes! It was nearly impossible to pick just one quote but I managed to do it haha. I wanted to switch the themes of the quotes up a bit as well so I liked that this beautiful quote is about guilt.

10. from This Savage Song by V.E. Schwab

“Plenty of humans are monstrous, and plenty of monsters know how to play at being human.”

I’m starting to repeat myself haha, but I allowed myself to pick only 1 VE Schwab quote and it was TORTURE! So many amazing quotes from this duology and the Shades of Magic trilogy. I love her writing and there are quite some memorable quotes in her books. A nice and dark one to end this TTT 😉

What are some of your favourite quotes? Let me know in the comments!
