After sharing some information about this book before, I finally get the chance to post my review of this book. I was lucky enough to receive and ARC of this book! Thank you fo that! If you want to know what I thought about this book, take a look.
From New York Times bestselling author, Corinne Michaels, comes a new heartwarming standalone romance.
I’m getting really good at cutting my losses.
First, the husband. Divorcing him was the best decision I ever made. But between single-parenting and job-hunting, I can’t catch my breath. When a celebrity blogging position falls into my lap, I’m determined to succeed.
That is, until I get my first assignment and actually see Noah Frazier for the first time . . . practically naked and dripping wet. My heart races and I forget how to form complete sentences. His chiseled abs, irresistible smirk, and crystal blue eyes are too perfect to be real. So, what do I do? Get drunk and humiliate myself, of course.
I’m ready to forget the awkward night, yet Noah has no intention of allowing me to move on. Instead, he arranges for me to write a feature on him, ensuring a lot more time together. One embarrassing moment after another, one kiss after another, and before I can stop myself, I realize—I’m falling in love with him.
But when the unthinkable happens, can I even blame him for cutting his losses?
What I wouldn’t give for just one last time . . .
Cover
This is definitely a playful cover! I love the look of it. It really fits the story as well. I don’t say that often when there are people on the cover, but this one really works.
Plot
I feel like I have been repeating myself lately, but yet again, I have read an amazing book!
Kristin finally got out of a marriage I couldn’t imagine living in. Scott was an awful guy and I was happy she got out of that fast. The way this book was written, it had me laughing and crying with the characters. Kristin has an amazing group of friends who stand by her no matter what. There are a lot of funny moments that had me laughing out loud. I know that Eli is from another Corinne Michaels book, so I will definitely picking up that one soon. Noah was quite the surprise. As an actor, he wasn’t the typical arrogant guy you would expect. He is the exact opposite. There is an immediate connection to Kristin that just won’t go away. He treats a woman the way they should be treated. Through tears, laughter and love Kristin builds herself a new life. There are some bumps in the road, but life would be boring without them! I couldn’t put this book down and it left me wanting more! These are characters that I will keep thinking about. Even though it seemed like the characters had an instant connection, this didn’t feel fake. This is something I normally do not like at all. I feel that a connection needs to grow, so it’s a big thing if I say it didn’t bother me. While the connection may have started rather fast, I loved the way it slowly grew. Corinne Michaels is an amazing writer and I need more books by her now!
Characters
Kristin starts off as a very insecure woman who has let her husband control her and put her down for years. It’s finally enough though and time for her to stand on her own two feet. After that is when she starts to realize how bad her relationship was and that she is a lot more than her ex said she was. She is an amazing mother to her two kids (who are the sweetest, just so you know, haha) and she will do anything to make them happy! I love seeing how confident she gets and that she finally stands up to the person who treated her wrong for so many years. It’s interesting to see her fight the connection she has with Noah. Kristin has an amazing group of people who are there to let her find the person she was all along.
Noah is an actor and deciding what he wants to do next. The last thing he expected was to find a woman who made him feel things he hadn’t felt for a very long time. All he was planning on doing was visitng a friend and going on with his life. Before he knew it, he was sticking around and even though he had a past. Things were all new for him. He knows how to treat a woman right though and I love how he talked to Kristin. The way she deserved. He made her feel special and that’s how every woman should feel. He has a great relationship with his mother and she notices things even before he does. Noah has a great sense of humor and by the descriptions given, not that bad looking, haha. Another book boyfriend to add to the list!
