Wishlist Wednesday | Anticipated Releases February

Last month there were so many new releases, we didn’t know where to start. We’re hoping it isn’t as bad this month, because it’s not good for our wallets, haha. We slowly started researching new releases this month and this is what we found!

The Belles – Dhonielle Clayton (February 6th)

I think this is one of the most anticipated reads this year and definitely this year! To be honest I wasn’t really interested in this one at first but I have seen so many positive reviews from bloggers and booktubers that already got an ARC that it’s definitely on my radar right now. The setting and synopsis sound pretty interesting so I’m excited for this one!

Down and Across – Arvin Ahmadi (February 6th)

I was mostly interested by the cover and title to be honest haha. I love crossword puzzles so that it definitely what had me hooked, there’s a character in here that want to write crossword puzzles so sign me up! Other than that, it’s probably a coming of age contemporary like many others but I’m still interested in this one.

The Queen’s Rising – Rebecca Ross (February 6th)

I love this cover! The synopsis sounds pretty interesting. I hope the story won’t be to predictable and we won’t see the queen coming from miles away 😉 Hope the worldbuilding is done well, because it does sound interesting in the synopsis!

Tempests and Slaughter – Tamora Pierce (February 6th)

This book is the start of a prequel series to another one of Tamora Pierce’s series I believe. I haven’t read that one but supposedly you can read this one even though you haven’t read the other one 😀 I really like the synposis of this one, it has magical students! And that is one of the things that will garanteed my interest 😉

Shadowsong – S. Jae-Jones (February 6th)

Wintersong has been on my (Candyce) bookshelf since its release and I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I have heard many good things about it and the cover is amazing! The same with Shadowsong. I have a feeling this is going to be a book I will want to have right after I finish Wintersong.

Honor Among Thieves – Rachel Caine & Ann Aguirre (February 13th)

Another interesting YA sci-fi! As I said, I really want to read more of those and this one is definitely on my radar. Our main character starts out as a petty criminal so I’m hoping she’s a morally grey character. I find them so interesting and really like reading about them.

Immortal Reign – Morgan Rhodes (February 6th)

The first five books are on my shelves already (even though I haven’t read any of them), haha. I love these covers, so I know this will have to be one I eventually buy. At least then I can read them all at once. I don’t constantly have to wait for the next book to be released.

Heart of Iron – Ashley Poston (February 27th)

I loved Geekerella this year and I’m excited to see what Ashley does with a sci-fi. I don’t read that much sci-fi but absolutely loved Illuminae and Gemina recently so I plan on reading more of that soon.

Everlife – Gena Showalter (February 27th)

Everlife and Lifeblood already are on my shelves and I really enjoyed Everlife. Not only are these covers beautiful, but the story is interesting. I know Isabelle isn’t as excited about this as I am, but nothing wrong with another opinion. From a few friends I’ve heard that they weren’t happy they had to wait for a year, so I think it’s a good thing I wait until this one arrives, haha.

American Panda – Gloria Chao (February 6th)

This is supposed to be a super funny and cute contemporary. It’s also an own-voices book and we need more of those! Sounds like the perfect book for inbetween some big fantasies or contemporaries with heavy subjects.

Ink, Iron and Glass – Gwendolyn Clare (February 20th)

This book sounds really interesting. The fact that a pen, book and person can create a new world just by writing something new isn’t something that really has been used often in books. If written the right way, this could turn out to be really amazing.

People Like Us – Dana Mele (February 27th)

This is described as Riverdale meets Pretty Little Liars, a gay Mean Girls, and a book for fans of Abigail Haas. As I said in a How I Met My Book, I need more books like Abigail Haas’ books and I also LOVE Riverdale and very much enjoyed Pretty Little Liars and Mean Girls. Needless to say, I NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!

Blood of a Thousand Stars – Rhoda Belleza (February 20th)

I (Candyce) read the first book last year and thought it was pretty good. I didn’t know at the time that there was going to be more than one book, so in that sense it did disappoint in the beginning. The ending made me very curious though, so I do want to read this book.

Broken Beautiful Hearts – Kami Garcia (February 6th)

I read the Beautiful Creatures series years ago and while it wasn’t the best there were certain things I did enjoy. I’m interested to see if I’ll like Kami’s new book after all these years! Contrary to her previous serie, this is a contemporary novel and it has a ton of sports in it. We both love reading about sports so this is right up our alley.

When My Heart Joins the Thousand – A.J. Steiger (February 6th)

This contemporary novel has an autistic main character and a disabled love interest, that’s some rep we don’t see enough off. I’ve seen really positive reviews and hope this book is as great as they say!

Hamilton and Peggy!: A Revolutionary Friendship – L.M. Elliott

The whole Hamilton hype has seemed interesting to me and to be honest I haven’t done much research, but I think it’s something that sounds interesting. The summary sounds pretty cute, so it’s a definite add on the wishlist. It’s weird though. Goodreads says this book was released January 2nd, but according to the list Epic Reads posted it’s an anticipated release of February. I’m confused, haha.

The Tombs – Deborah Schaumberg (February 20th)

After reading “Gangs of New York meets Cassandra Clare” this went right on this list. This book sounds amazing and take a different aspect of many books we’ve already read. We can’t wait to see how this one turns out. It’s almost 500 pages as well, so hopefully that’s promising.

Where I live – Brenda Rufener (February 27th)

This one sounds like a beautiful and very emotional read. I love that the main character has a blog! She is also homeless and that is not something I have come across before. I’m interested to see where this one will take us.

Stage Kiss – M.F. Lorson (February 13th)

I (Candyce) am kind of cheating when it comes to this book. I was lucky to get an ARC of this book. My review will be posted on the blog a little closer to the release date. If you were a teenager like I was in 2002, this book is definitely one for you.

The Beau & the Belle – R.S. Grey (February 1st)

Ever since Scoring Wilder, R.S. Grey has become an auto-buy author. Her books are hilarious and and the romance she is able to create is amazing.

Baby Daddy – Kendall Ryan (February 27th)

Kendall Ryan is another auto-buy author and the description of this one sounds really funny. These are definitely good books to read when you want to laugh and a good romance. She has created many amazing book boyfriends.

Pitch Dark – Courtney Alameda (February 20th)

This one sounds SCARY! I’d love to read more scary YA novels and this one sounds really good. There are aliens that kill with sound, that’s an unique concept to me. The last line of the synposis is really what hooked me; ”In space, nobody can hear you scream . . . but on the John Muir, the screams are the last thing you’ll hear.”

The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle – Stuart Turton (February 8th)

This one is a kind of Ground Hog Day meets Agatha Christie. I love novels were the main character has to repeat the same day over and over. And this loop will be ended by solving a murder, and I also love mysteries! I liked what I saw in the reviews and hope to get it soon.

#Prettyboy Must Die – Kimberly Reid (February 13th)

This one sounds a bit silly, but somehow I’ve got a good feeling! A CIA prodigy in high school who becomes an internet sensation. Sounds pretty ridiculous haha, but at the same time, sounds pretty great! I just hope this is a fun and fast paced read.

Okay, that’s all for this month. It’s not as bad as January, but it’s pretty close. We have a feeling this is going to be a very busy year of amazing books. That’s not a bad thing, but there isn’t enough time to get to all the books we want, haha. The problem every bookworm has. What books are you looking forward to this month?
