I LOVED the Alabama Summer series that J. Daniels wrote, so when I saw the sign up for this book, I knew I needed to give it a go. BAD FOR YOU

A Dirty Deeds Novel

BY J.Daniels

Release Day: January 23, 2018

“If you’re a fan of Kristen Ashley, then you will love this book.” -Aestas Book Blog on Four Letter Word

He didn’t want to be bad. He just didn’t have a choice…

Shayla Perkins isn’t the kind of girl who makes the same mistake twice, especially when it comes to Sean “Stitch” Molina. So when he gives her the world’s biggest rejection, that’s it–she’s done. Until the sexy, silent, unavailable Sean makes Shay a very personal offer. Of course, it still doesn’t mean he’s interested in her. Or does it?

Sean has done things in life. Bad things. And he’s paid the price. All he wants now is to make up for his past by doing good in the present. And no one deserves more good than Shay. Beautiful on the inside and out, Shay is the kind of woman who should be cared for and protected–especially from a man like Sean. He’s tried to keep his feelings for her in check, but a single, reckless impulse pulls them closer than ever before.

Soon the two are sharing their biggest dreams and satisfying their deepest desires. But what will happen if the only way to truly give each other what they want most…is to let each other go?

“The perfect mix of funny, hot and heartwarming. I enjoyed it immensely!” –Mia Sheridan, New York Times bestselling author, on Four Letter Word

Review

Plot This book is amazing! I actually had to sit and  think about it a bit before I could write my review. I have read a few of J. Daniels’ books and have loved them all so far, but I think this one may have just gotten first place for favorite book written by her. She knows how to write. Once I started reading this book I didn’t want to stop, but forced myself to slow down so I wouldn’t be done so fast. We meet Shay who wants her own hairdressing business and is working hard to make that happen. Things become complicated for her when she unexpectedly needs to take care of her brothers. She thinks she’s messing up and is having a hard time juggling everything. Stitch/Sean is the last person she expects to help her. He’s basically ignored her for a year after she asked him out. Shay doesn’t want to like him, but can’t help it. I loved Shay’s brothers and wished we would’ve seen more of them after the beginning of the book. The same thing with her father. We know he has Parkinson’s Disease, but other than an update on medication we don’t find out much more. I get this though, because Sean deserves this story to be about him. Shay eventually figures out why he started ignoring her and your heart just breaks for him. He definitely deserves so much more than he has. I loved that their romance grew gradually and it took time for them to trust each other and take the next step. Sometimes romance books tend to rush things, but that wasn’t the case here at all. Sean’s story was written with so much emotion, I needed tissues a few times while reading. Sean’s kids were so cute and I was happy that Val was a mother that wanted what’s best for her kids even if it wasn’t really what she wanted. This review is kind of a rant, haha, but there is just so much I want to say about this book. I don’t want to say too much either or you won’t have to read the book! All I know is we all need a family like Shay has. Friends that are there no matter what and for anything.

Characters Shay is a pretty independent person. She knows what she wants in life and is determined to make it happen. She’s tiny but feisty. Shay keeps talking when she should be quiet, but in a very funny way. She is the most caring person and will stand up for everyone she cares for. I loved it when she wanted to use pepper spray against a guy a lot bigger than her, because Sean looked upset, haha. When she loves you she will do anything she can to protect you. Once she knew what Sean went through she did everything she possibly could to make sure he started believing he was worth it. That was so important to her. Even to the point she is willing to sacrifice her own happiness.

Sean seems like a bad boy and in a few ways he is. He did some things he’s not proud of and went to jail for them. Sean doesn’t think he’s worthy of happiness, but he will do anything he can to get his girls back. Since his time in jail he’s become a good person. He’s held down a job and even bought a house. He noticed Shay quite awhile ago, but doesn’t think he’s worthy. Which is why he didn’t take her up on her offer when she asked him out. Sean’s mother wasn’t a good person at all and made him feel like he shouldn’t be alive. This is something he constantly hears in his head when something good can happen to him. When I read about what happened to him your heart breaks for him. No one should ever have to go through what he did. No one should have to feel like that about themselves. Even though it’s really hard, he starts to let Shay in and really believe he’s worth it. All Sean needed was someone to not give up on him and make him really hear that he is good enough.

J. Daniels did it again! I loved these characters and their story. Now that this review is up, I plan on reviewing Four Letter Word and Hit the Spot. Hopefully I will be able to review those in February. I need to share more love for this author! Have any of you read a book by J. Daniels yet? If you did, what did you think?
