I can’t believe this is the last Thursday of 2017! Where did this year go? Seeing how this is also the last tag we will be posting this year, I wanted to do something related to that. I noticed this tag that was posted by Early Bookish Birds and it seemed interesting, so I am tagging myself.
1. Have you read any book(s) with someone? If yes, what was your buddy read for 2017?
This year I have actually done quite a few buddy reads and mostly with Isabelle, haha. Out of all the books we read together I think my favorite is The Infernal Guard Trilogy. Those books were amazing and I’m sure you guys are getting sick of hearing us fangirl about it, haha.
2. Any new author(s) that surprised you?
Yes! I have read amazing books by authors that I just discovered this year: S.G.D. Singh, Rachel Marks, Kayla Tirrell, Adam Silvera, Amanda Bouchet, Marie Lu and these are just a few of them!
3. What’s a new genre that you tried?
I tried a couple of young adult horror books. They were okay, but I don’t think it will become a favorite genre of mine. Mostly something to read around Halloween. Another genre I tried was sports romances. Those were a hit, haha. I read quite a few of those this year.
4. Any book(s) you read in the beginning of the year that you still recall very fondly in December?
I do have to think about this one. I do know a couple. The Kingmaker Chronicles by Amanda Bouchet. I also read The Naturals, Snow Like Ashes and Full Measures. These books were all really good!
5. Favorite book(s) you read during your birth month.
I was born in March and I just checked Goodreads to see what books I read during that month. I read the Slammed trilogy by Colleen Hoover and all I can say is wow. I read all three books in a week and I was sad it was over. A very emotional story, but so beautiful. Another mustread that I would recommend.
6. A book series you finished and started in 2017.
I am really bad at finishing series after I start them. I have finished a few and have mentioned them in this post, but the only other one I actually started and finished is the Six of Crows duology. I loved these books! I really do wish there were more.
7. Book(s) that everyone raved about in 2017 that you didn’t feel strongly about.
For me this was Caraval. I enjoyed the book and it was good, but I wasn’t as impressed as other people. I think maybe because there was so much hype about this book. Sometimes my expectations are too high when that happens.
8. News that made you super excited for 2018.
I can’t really think of anything at this moment, but I was excited to hear that Marissa Meyer is visiting The Netherlands in March. Isabelle and I are going to meet her!
9. Give me two books you’d re-read, one you wish you could forget and seven you’d buy for your past self.
I would re-read Slammed and They Both Die at the End.
There isn’t really a book this year that I wish I could forget…
Seven books I would buy for my past self: This is actually a hard one. Okay, Harry Potter, Throne of Glass, Vampire Academy, Carry On, Fangirl, Illuminae and LUX.
10. Name one bookish goal you’ve acheived.
I finished my Goodreads challenge early and have already read 7 more than I planned to.
This is a little bit about my bookish year. I can’t wait to see what 2018 will bring. I tag everyone who reads this to tell us about your year. I’d love to see your answers.
Loved this tag
Thank you! It was fun to look back 😊.
awesome tag! I have one planned for the new year, revolving around resolutions!
Nice to see Amanda on your favorite new authors list <3
I will keep an eye out for that one. A good one for us to use next year ;).
Yes! Amanda is definitely a favorite. I am only sad I can’t dive in the last book right away. Others have to go first, haha.
