Mini Reviews | Comic Edition #2

A little while ago I posted the first comic edition in the mini reviews for you guys and a bit after that we had the Archie comics special. Today I have a new edition of mini comic reviews for you. I’ve read three comics that I would love to share with you all 🙂 Hope you enjoy it!

World Reader Vol 1 – Jeff Loveness

I got this comic for free through NetGalley to review. Sarah is a psychic astronaut that travels through space, only to find dead world after dead world. Through speaking with the ghosts of those worlds she tries to figure out what is happening and who is taking away all the spirits on every world.

The artwork is this comic was nicely done, I enjoyed the style a lot. I did think it could use a bit more details, just to give us a better look at all those different worlds.

The plot sounds interesting enough, however it does lack somewhat. The plot is quite thin and I read to whole thing in about half an hour. I think this shows that the story isn’t complex at all, and there weren’t too many details to look at.

I really liked the message at the end of those volume and that did save the whole comic a bit. I also liked Sarah as a character, even though you didn’t learn that much about her. I liked the storyline about Paul the most, and think that part is why I like Sarah as our main character. I’m interested to see if there will be a second volume and what that would entail.

I Hate Fairyland Vol 2: Fluff My Life – Skottie Young

As you guys could’ve read in the first edition, I love the first volume of I Hate Fairyland. The art in this second volume was as amazing as it was the first time. I really enjoyed the blood and the gore that you wouldn’t expect af first. But I came to love it in the first volume and was happy it was still there in this one. The whole comic was a continuation of all that I enjoyed in the first one and I can’t wait to get my hands on the third volume (which will be next week haha)!

Monstress vol 1: Awakening – Marjorie Lu & Sana Takeda

Wow, wow, wow, what a comic!!

I absolutely loved the art in this one, it was simply stunning and I really liked the style. The only downside was that a couple of important characters looked quite similar and I was a bit confused at times who was who. This might’ve added to my reading time but didn’t really take away any of my enjoyment. It just ensures you’re focused on the story and the art.

The story was amazing but also quite complex. I usually finish comics in one sitting but this one took me a couple of days. Simply because it was complex and had so much going on. However I enjoyed it so much and I immediately bought the second volume. I needed to know what happens next!!

Have you read any good comics lately? Let me know in the comments!
