Review|The Bed Mate – Kendall Ryan

I have read a few of the books from the Roommates series by Kendall Ryan. I have talked about Kendall Ryan before, so I wanted to make sure to get a review up from something written by her. This one caught my eye and I just felt like reading it.

Cover

I’m not really sure what I think about this cover. I like it, but don’t love it. I like the little elements in the zeros. The mistletoe makes me curious though.

Plot

I loved Sam and Maggie. This story was a good way to start my morning and I finished this book in one sitting. Sam and Maggie have been best friends since college and know the other really well. After the holidays they are hanging out and Maggie is starting to have doubts about her relationship. He’s not really interested in being romantic anymore and she’s just not sure. She’s even happy when he doesn’t want to stay the night. Sam broke up with his girlfriend and this leads to conversations they’ve never had before. Sam is planning on going on a ski trip for New Year’s with some friends and invited Maggie along. She doesn’t want to go, but after certain events with her boyfriend Sam buys her a ticket there. Sharing the same room and having feelings leads to some funny and interesting moments. I love the relationship she and Sam have and how they are thinking the same things, but just don’t dare to say how they feel. My only complaint about this book is it was way too short, haha. I would’ve loved more Sam and Maggie.

“They always started out normal enough. Like Fiona, the girl I’d dated over the summer. She was beautiful and smart—a kindergarten teacher with a heart of gold. Or, at least, that’s what I’d thought until she’d broken out the whips and asked me to meow like a cat. I liked to get wild as much as the next guy but there was a line for me, and she was way on the other side of it.”

Characters

I could relate to Maggie so easily! She likes the idea of curling up with a book during the winter, loves snow and Christmas. Just like me she loves Christmas movies, haha. So this book made me very happy. She loves her best friend and maybe even more than she is supposed to, but doesn’t want to ruin their friendship. Sam is such a sweet guy and so thoughtful. Even has Maggie’s favorite Christmas CD in his car. He is the type of best friend every girl wants and maybe even the boyfriend all girls wants. He is very protective and knows what he wants. He’s just not sure how to get it. The chemistry between them is perfect.

If you’re looking for a short, sweet and romantic novella this one is definitely for you. The whole roommates series is good anyways!
