September Bookhaul

As most booklovers we want to show off the books that we buy. At the beginning of every month we will show you all what we bought the month before. We decided to post this at the beginning of the new month in case a book shows up on the last day of the month, haha. This way we can include everything. Keep reading to find out what we got in September. If you clock on the title of the book it will take you to the Goodreads page.

It was a good book month for me! I got six books and three graphic novels. Graphic novels are something I have been interested in for awhile, but haven’t gotten many of. My boyfriend has a lot of Deadpool comics, so I have read some of them, haha. Now here is a closer look at the books I received this month!

Tower of Dawn – Sarah J Maas

This one of my most anticipated releases this year! Throne of Glass is one of my favorite series of all times. As I’m typing this I only have 100 pages left to go. I don’t want it to end, but it’s so good!! A lot of people have been saying that they don’t want to read this, because Chaol is the main character in this book, but I really suggest picking it up. This book reveals so much information we all need for the last book next year! Our buddyreview went up last Saturday, so if you want to know more about what we think, check it out!

They Both Die at the End – Adam Silvera

Adam Silvera has become one of my favorite authors and I have been waiting for this book all year. I have heard nothing but good things about it. A couple of months ago I read History is All You Left Me and he blew me away once again. He has a way of writing that makes you want more and connect with the characters. I have a feeling this book will be the same.

Godsgrave – Jay Kristoff

To be honest I haven’t finished Nevernight yet, but just from what I’ve read so far I know I am going to love it. It’s a unique book and I love the footnotes he uses. I think I will be happy that I already have Godsgrave when I finish Nevernight.

If There’s No Tomorrow – Jennifer L Armentrout

Jennifer L Armentrout is an auto-buy author for me. I have loved everything I have read by her so far. My favorite series by her will always be LUX though! If you haven’t read it yet you really need to! This book will be on top of my TBR though, because I am meeting her at the end of October. I really can’t wait!

One Dark Throne – Kendare Blake

Isabelle was really enthousiastic about Three Dark Crowns and I bought it in January when our bookgroup met up together. I didn’t regret buying it and I loved this story. So it was only natural that I had to buy the next book when it came out.

The Dead House – Dawn Kurtagich

The bookgroup Isabelle and I are in try and read something together every once in awhile. With Halloween around the corner we wanted to read something spooky together. A few of the girls already had this book and have wanted to read it for awhile, so the choice was made pretty quickly. It seems really good, so I wanted to join the buddyread.

Saga Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 – Brian K. Vaughan

I have heard a lot about this graphic novel series recently in Facebook groups and Isabelle read volume 1 not too long ago. I love the art in these. If I really enjoy them, the others will be on my Christmas wishlist.

Paper Girls Vol. 1 – Brian K. Vaughan

It’s actually pretty funny that both series I got this month are written by the same person, haha. Just like Saga, I have seen Paper Girls around a lot online. The reviews are pretty positive, so I want to try it out.

I thought I’d gotten hardly any books this month but in the end I did manage to add 7 books to my ever growing collection. There’s not really any room left on my shelves haha, but I just can’t control myself and selling some of my books is just as big of a no go. Let’s take a closer look at the books I got.

tower of dawnwarcross

Tower of Dawn – Sarah J. Maas

Like Candyce said, this was one of my most anticipated new releases this year! I got my edition in the YA Chronicles special box (check out that unboxing here), but since that got sent from Australia I had to wait a while. Now that’s obviously not gonna happen when you’ve been waiting on the next book in one of your favourite series for a year. So I also got the ebook and was able to start reading the actual day of the release! Like I said, the Throne of Glass series is one of my favs so I flew through this one. You might’ve read our buddy review last Saturday, otherwise you can read it here.

Warcross – Marie Lu

Another anticipated new release! I heard some great stories about this one already and am super excited to dive into it. The dust jacket is gorgeous but the naked hardback was a stunning surprise! I hadn’t seen pictures of it when I ordered it and was super happy with what I got. Hopefully I can dive into this one quickly.

tweedehandjes

Some bookworms hate buying second hand books, but I LOVE to do that. It saves me tons of money and I like the look of a book that has been read and probably loved. So the next three books were all second hand ones.

The Red Pyramid – Rick Riordan

This one was only 50 cents! How can you pass that up right? I read the first Percy Jackson series and book one of the Magnus Chase series by Rick Riordan. I enjoyed them but wasn’t super impressed. I am however still planning on reading all the other books haha. So this was a nice addition to my collection.

Career of Evil – Robert Galbraith

I love mystery and detective novels, so when I heard Robert Galbraith was actually JK Rowling I had to pick these up immediately. I’ve read the first 2 installments and now I’ve found this third one, also for just 50 cents. I think all my copies of this series are different editions haha, but I’m ok with that. I hope I’ll be able to read this one soon, going to save it for a rainy day when I can crawl under some blankets on the couch with a big cup of tea.

Sneeuw en As – Diana Gabaldon

This is the Dutch version of the sixth novel in the Outlander series. I already own the first 5, also second hand, but with the original Dutch cover. Which I really like, the new editions have this idiotic cover I detest. This sixth one in that original cover is pretty rare so when I saw it online I just had to get it. I don’t think the seller knew it was quite rare because I got it for a really decent price. I’m super happy that I found this one, even though I’m currently at the second book.

wonder woman rechthoekwicked like a wildfire

Wonder Woman: Warbringer – Leigh Bardugo

Technically I got this one in August, but since I didn’t come home from my summer vacation until September 1st I didn’t open the bookbox it was in until then. So in my opinion this one counts for September 😉 I got my copy from a Dutch bookbox company, Celebrate Books. I really enjoy their boxes and there aren’t any shippingcostsfor this one when you live in the Netherlands yourself. I was super excited for this book, I love Leigh Bardugo’s books and I love superhero’s. Unfortunately I was super tired and jet lagged when I got this book so I didn’t read that much yet and then Tower of Dawn was released… So I put this one down for now but hope to continue soon.

Wild Like a Wildfire – Lana Popovic

For this book goes the same as Wonder Woman, I got it in a subscription box in August but didn’t open it until September. I got this one in my Fairyloot <3 I adore those bookboxes, they always feature amazing fantasy novels and have such great and often unique goodies. This book however is pretty low on my TBR, it doesn’t appeal to me all that much. Even though I do really like that cover!

That’s all the books we got this month. Have you read any of these books? Let us know what you thought about them.

  1. Oh these books look FANTASTIC. And is it bad that I’m really hankering to buy Warcross because that naked cover is so so gorgeous?!?! ? Also I love Nevernight and I’m nearly finished it for the second time in prepration for Godsgrave so I hope you enjoy it!

  2. I really need to continue on the Outlander series because I really want to read the book about John Grey but I need to read the Outlander books first I think 😛

    1. I bought the John Grey book recently but I’m also waiting until I finish all the outlander books haha. So scared of spoilers! I’m even scared to watch the tv show because of spoilers haha

      1. Same here but I have a feeling that the John Grey story will be really good. I have seen all episodes of Outlander that is out and that´s exactly why I want to hurry up with the Outlander books so I can see what John Greys story looks like because he has just entered the tv-show 😀

        1. Aaaah I didn’t know that! I guess I need to hurry up reading AND watching haha. I absolutely loved the first books but they’re just so huge haha, I’m a bit hesitant

          1. The first two seasons of the tv-show are exactly after the books so if you want to see them you should 😀
